The NDA government in Andhra Pradesh has introduced a revolutionary WhatsApp Governance Service, enabling citizens to access 200 public services with ease. This digital initiative eliminates the need for physical visits to government offices, offering a seamless and efficient way for people to avail essential services through a dedicated WhatsApp portal.
While the initiative has been widely praised by the public for its convenience, the YCP has launched a misinformation campaign, alleging that personal data, including Aadhaar numbers, is being illegally shared through the platform.
Addressing these claims in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly, IT Minister Nara Lokesh categorically dismissed any concerns of data leakage or privacy breach. “There is absolutely no compromise on data security. WhatsApp merely functions as a display portal and does not store or access any private information,” he clarified.
In a bold statement, Lokesh further challenged the opposition, saying, “If any YCP leader can prove that WhatsApp has been hacked and personal data is leaked, I will personally give them ₹10 crore from my own pocket.” Taking a jibe at Jagan Mohan Reddy, he added, “Jagan Garu claims he doesn’t even use a mobile phone. If that’s the case, I can ask our Finance Minister, Keshav Garu, to buy him a phone and teach him how to use this WhatsApp governance service.” His remarks drew laughter and applause in the assembly.
The Mana Mitra app, which powers this governance model, has already integrated key services such as temple bookings, electricity bill payments, bus ticket reservations, revenue services, and municipal facilities. The state government plans to expand the platform further, bringing even more services under its digital umbrella.
