South India’s most celebrated filmmaker, Lokesh Kanagaraj, is gearing up for the release of his highly anticipated film Coolie, slated to hit theatres on August 14. As the release date approaches, Lokesh has actively stepped into the promotional circuit and shared some fascinating insights in a recent interview with a national media outlet.
When asked about the much-discussed reports of his ₹50 crore remuneration per film, Lokesh responded with clarity and confidence.
“Yes, I’ve heard about the ₹50 crore talk, and it’s a reflection of the success of my previous film, Leo, which grossed nearly ₹600 crore worldwide. Naturally, my market value grew, and this industry works on demand and supply. I believe I’m working hard and earning every rupee,” Lokesh stated.
On the promotional strategy for Coolie, Lokesh made an unconventional yet bold announcement — the film will skip the teaser entirely. Instead, the team plans to unveil the main trailer directly on August 2, a move that has already piqued curiosity.
In a heartfelt moment, Lokesh also shared an emotional experience with Superstar Rajinikanth, who plays the lead in Coolie.
“Rajinikanth Sir watched the final cut at the studio. After the screening, he stood up, hugged me tightly, and said the film reminded him of his Thalapathy days. That was a very warm and proud moment for me,” he recalled.
With such positive internal buzz and a confident promotional approach, expectations are sky-high for Coolie, especially with Lokesh and Rajinikanth joining forces for the first time.
