Lokesh Removes ‘Paradhas’ in Vizag, Signals End of Old Regime Practices

One of the widely criticized practices of the previous YS Jagan-led government was the frequent use of “Paradhas” — large fabric covers installed on either side of the roads during the Chief Minister’s public visits, ostensibly for security and privacy. This drew flak from opposition leaders, who mockingly dubbed Jagan the “Paradha CM.”

Breaking from that tradition, the new government has clearly directed security and protocol teams not to use such barriers during Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s visits. However, occasional lapses still seem to occur.

A notable incident took place during Chandrababu Naidu’s recent visit to Vizag, where he was overseeing International Yoga Day preparations. At a key meeting held in Novotel Hotel, local authorities had once again put up white fabric curtains in the corridors, attempting to restrict public access and visibility.

Nara Lokesh, who arrived at the venue, promptly noticed the Paradhas and questioned the police personnel about their presence. He immediately instructed them to remove the barriers and reportedly remarked with a touch of sarcasm that the “Paradha CM era is over.”

This incident clearly signals the new government’s intent to distance itself from the unpopular practices of the previous administration, reinforcing its commitment to transparency and public accessibility.
