A new biopic on Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been officially announced. Titled Maa Vande, the film will chronicle Modi’s journey from childhood to becoming India’s top leader.
Directed by Kranthi Kumar CH, the film carries the tagline “The Anthem of a Mother” and emphasizes Modi’s deep emotional bond with his mother, Heeraben, whose guidance and values profoundly influenced his life. Modi has often credited his mother’s strength and simplicity for shaping his path, particularly during challenging times following his father’s demise.
Malayalam actor Unni Mukundan will portray Narendra Modi, while Bollywood actress Raveena Tandon will play Heeraben. Unni Mukundan, who grew up in Ahmedabad during Modi’s tenure as Chief Minister, called it an honor to step into the role. He added that the film will explore “the man beyond the statesman,” highlighting the pivotal role of his mother in his life.
Maa Vande is being produced as a big-budget pan-India film under Silver Cast Creations, with Veer Reddy as producer. The project boasts a top-tier technical team, including cinematography by K.K. Senthil Kumar, music by Ravi Basrur, editing by Sreekar Prasad, production design by Sabu Cyril, and action choreography by King Solomon.
The film promises to depict Modi’s journey with emotional depth and grandeur. While political biopics are not new, Maa Vande stands out for centering the story on his mother and the influence she had in shaping India’s Prime Minister.
