“I find this whole thing of celebs adopting villages very insulting to villages. No self respecting village will allow itself to be adopted. Imagine how insulting we will feel if a Hollywood star would want to adopt india reminding us that we are an under developed country”, says maverick director Ram Gopal Varma, taking a dig at the likes of Mahesh Babu and Prakash Raj.
If his words are anything to go by, he feels like the whole process of adopting is stupidity. Like some communist at heart, Ramu says, “Any village who is willing to be adopted is actually admitting that its depending on left over morsels thrown at it by the rich and famous”.
He called the whole adoption thing going on at the moment as a conspiracy of government to incite the rich and the famous to adopt villages so that government doesn’t need to do anything. That’s a jibe taken not just at celebs like Mahesh, but also the governments. We wonder what could be Ram Gopal Varma’s real motto behind these comments, if not creating a storm out of nothing.
Probably Varma has forgotten the fact that the money government spends on any village for its infrastructure and other developments is not from any politician’s pockets, but it is also the money of these rich and responsible guys who pay to government in the form of taxes. Our director seems to look at everything just from negative angle and makes mockery out of it. Why attack a good cause too, Mr RGV?
