Mahesh Babu in Legal Trouble Over Real Estate Fraud Allegations

Tollywood superstar Mahesh Babu has landed in legal trouble after the Ranga Reddy District Consumer Forum issued fresh notices to him in a real estate fraud case. The case involves Sai Surya Developers, a company for which Mahesh Babu served as the brand ambassador.

According to the latest reports, Sai Surya Developers allegedly duped several buyers by advertising unauthorized real estate projects in Balapur village using Mahesh Babu’s image in their promotional material. Victims—ranging from middle-class families to doctors—claimed they were misled by these ads and purchased plots priced at around ₹34.80 lakh each. It was only later that they discovered the layout showcased in the brochures did not even exist.

The complainants alleged that the developers falsely claimed to have all the necessary permissions and highlighted luxurious amenities in the brochures, which featured Mahesh Babu prominently. Despite repeated follow-ups, the victims received only partial refunds—approximately ₹15 lakh each in multiple installments.

A case has now been filed against three parties: Sai Surya Developers (first respondent), its owner Kancherla Satish Chandragupta (second respondent), and Mahesh Babu (third respondent). The petitioners argued that the actor’s endorsement gave the fraudulent project legitimacy, influencing their decision to invest.

The Consumer Forum has summoned all three respondents to appear in person or via legal representatives on the upcoming Monday. The forum will investigate and determine the accountability of each party involved.

Meanwhile, a recent Enforcement Directorate (ED) investigation revealed that Mahesh Babu was paid a total of ₹5.90 crore for his role as brand ambassador—₹2.50 crore of which was reportedly paid in cash. When summoned by the ED, Mahesh Babu requested more time to appear, citing prior shooting commitments.
