Superstar Mahesh Babu’s highly anticipated first collaboration with visionary filmmaker S.S. Rajamouli, titled Varanasi, was officially launched today with a breathtaking glimpse that has already taken the internet by storm. The teaser showcases Rajamouli’s trademark scale, transporting audiences through multiple eras with rich world-building and stunning visual effects.

The narrative opens in 512 CE in Varanasi, before leaping forward to 2027 CE, where the catastrophic fall of Asteroid Shambhavi triggers a chain of events spanning continents—from Antarctica to Africa, Vanaanchal, and ultimately to Tretayugam (7200 BCE). The story transitions into the powerful introduction of Rudra, played by Mahesh Babu, who appears on an intense mission with divine undertones.

The highlight of the glimpse is Mahesh Babu’s dramatic portrayal, seen wielding a Trishul while riding Nandi, embodying a majestic blend of myth and might. Calling it a “dream project,” the actor expressed his hope that the film would make fans proud.

The team reportedly worked for nearly a year to achieve the high-end VFX showcased in the teaser, hinting at Rajamouli’s most ambitious fusion yet—mythology intertwined with time travel.

The film stars Priyanka Chopra Jonas as the female lead and Prithviraj Sukumaran as the antagonist. Varanasi is produced by Durga Arts, further elevating expectations for one of Indian cinema’s most awaited epics.
