As many as five Telugu films are lined up for Sankranthi 2025, but only two of them have finalized their OTT deals so far. Netflix secured the rights to Naveen Polishetty’s Anaganaga Oka Raju long ago, while Ravi Teja’s Bhartha Mahasahayulaku Vignapthi was sold at a discounted price due to the actor’s recent slump at the box office.
However, the two biggest festival contenders—Chiranjeevi’s Mana Shanakara Vara Prasad Garu and Prabhas’s The Raja Saab—are still without OTT agreements.
The Raja Saab is facing a financial hurdle. The producer reportedly took a loan from a North Indian financier, and the OTT deal can move forward only after obtaining a formal NOC.
In the case of Mana Shanakara Vara Prasad Garu, the issue lies in pricing. The producer is quoting a significantly high amount, but streaming platforms are reluctant to match those expectations.
A similar situation occurred recently with Balakrishna’s Akhanda 2, where the makers initially demanded a premium but eventually settled for a reduced price with Netflix. It now seems likely that Shanakara Vara Prasad may have to adopt a similar approach to seal a deal.
