Pawan Kalyan Official Handle Sparks Debate Over Nithya Menen Birthday Post

April 9, 2026

Social media has become a powerful tool for politicians and celebrities to directly engage with the public, with entire political narratives and campaigns now being shaped online. As a result, managing official social media handles has become a highly sensitive and important responsibility for dedicated teams.

Recently, a post from the official handle of AP Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan sparked a major discussion on social media. The account had shared birthday wishes for actress Nithya Menen, who is widely appreciated for her work in Malayalam and Telugu cinema and previously shared screen space with Pawan Kalyan in Bheemla Nayak.

While the message itself was seen as a simple birthday greeting, the controversy arose due to the use of an official government-linked handle for posting it. This led to criticism and backlash, with many questioning whether such personal or entertainment-related posts should be shared from an official political account.

Observers pointed out that the newly created Pawan Kalyan Creative Works handle, which is intended for cinema-related updates, would have been a more appropriate platform for such a message.

Since the Deputy CM himself is not directly handling these accounts, responsibility lies with the social media teams managing them. Critics are now urging them to exercise greater caution and ensure that official government handles are reserved strictly for political, governance-related, or national-level communications, avoiding casual or entertainment-related posts in the future.
