The Raja Saab director Maruthi has issued a heartfelt apology to Jr NTR fans after his comments at the Rebel Saab song launch event stirred unexpected backlash on social media.
The event, held at Vimal 70MM Theatre in Hyderabad, was packed with Prabhas fans even though the star himself couldn’t attend. While addressing the crowd, a few of Maruthi’s comments were perceived by Jr NTR fans as an indirect dig, leading to widespread criticism on X.
Sensing the impact, Maruthi promptly released a public clarification.
He wrote:
“I sincerely apologise to every fan. It was never my intention to hurt or disrespect anyone. Sometimes, in the flow of words, things come out differently from what we truly mean.”
He further added that he has immense respect for Jr NTR and his fans, emphasising that his comments were misunderstood and never intended as a comparison or insult.
Meanwhile, the event itself saw fans waiting for nearly two hours before the much-awaited Rebel Saab song was finally unveiled. The track, composed by Thaman and sung by Sanjith Hegde and Blaaze, has been released in Telugu along with Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada versions.
The Raja Saab, directed by Maruthi and produced by People Media Factory and IVY Entertainment, is gearing up for a theatrical release on January 9.
