Kangana Ranaut’s Hollywood Horror Debut
Maverick Bollywood star Kangana Ranaut—fresh from her acclaimed turn as former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in Emergency—will soon make her Hollywood debut, Variety reports. She’s been cast in the lead role of the forthcoming horror thriller Blessed Be the Evil, sharing the screen with Scarlet Rose Stallone (fresh off her turn in her father’s Tulsa King) and Tyler Posey of Teen Wolf fame. Helming the project is director Anurag Rudra, whose previous film New Me also explored the darker side of human experience.
The story centers on a grieving Christian couple who, reeling from a devastating miscarriage, move into a long-abandoned farm with a sinister past. As they attempt to rebuild their lives, they soon discover they are not alone—and malevolent forces threaten to shatter their fragile hopes. Production on Blessed Be the Evil is slated to begin in New York this summer.
Kangana joins a growing list of Indian talents making their mark in Hollywood: the late Irrfan Khan earned roles in Jurassic World and The Amazing Spider-Man; Priyanka Chopra Jonas led in The Matrix Resurrections and Baywatch; and veterans Amitabh Bachchan, Om Puri, Anil Kapoor, Tabu, and Ali Fazal have all appeared in American productions. What sets Kangana apart is her high-profile leading turn in a genre film—an intriguing entry point for one of India’s most versatile actresses.
