The Mega family, led by Megastar Chiranjeevi, has given Tollywood some of its biggest stars—from Pawan Kalyan to Vaishnav Tej. However, in recent years, the family has been going through a lean patch. Except for Allu Arjun, no other Mega hero has managed to deliver a hit in the last two years.
Since July 2023, fans have witnessed seven back-to-back flops from the family (excluding Allu Arjun). Films like Bro, Bholaa Shankar, Gandheevadhari Arjuna, Operation Valentine, Matka, Game Changer, and Hari Hara Veera Mallu ended up as major disappointments.
Chiranjeevi last tasted success in 2023 with Waltair Veerayya. His next release Bholaa Shankar turned into a disaster, and his ambitious project Vishwambhara has been delayed due to pending post-production. He also has a film lined up with Anil Ravipudi, raising hopes of a strong comeback.
Pawan Kalyan, after a long gap, returned with Hari Hara Veera Mallu, which unfortunately became the biggest disaster of his career. All eyes are now on OG, set for release on September 25, 2025, while he is also shooting for Ustaad Bhagat Singh with Harish Shankar.
Ram Charan, after RRR, faced setbacks with Acharya and Game Changer. Despite dedicating over three years to Game Changer, it failed miserably. Now, he is eyeing redemption with Peddi, scheduled for release on March 27, 2026.
Varun Tej has also struggled for solo success, with his last notable hit being Gaddalakonda Ganesh (2019). His multistarrer F3 worked well, but his solo outings—Ghani, Gandheevadhari Arjuna, Operation Valentine, and Matka—all flopped. He is now betting big on his upcoming action-comedy with Merlapaka Gandhi, releasing in 2026.
Sai Dharam Tej, except for Virupaksha, has been on a rough patch for nearly six years. He is now looking to bounce back stronger with Sambarala Yeti Gattu (SYG), hitting screens later this year.
His younger brother Vaishnav Tej made a dream debut with the blockbuster Uppena, but followed it up with failures like Kondapolam, Ranga Ranga Vaibhavanga, and Adi Keshava. For the past two years, he hasn’t announced a new film, reportedly being very selective about his next project.
With back-to-back flops, even Mega fans are disappointed and eagerly waiting for their favourite heroes to deliver a solid blockbuster. The big question now is—which Mega hero will end this dry run and bring back the glory days?
