Dil Raju Calls for Unity to Fight Piracy in Telugu Film Industry
Piracy continues to be a growing concern for the Telugu film industry, with recent films like Game Changer and Thandel falling victim to piracy. HD prints of these films were leaked online within a day of their theatrical release, highlighting the urgent need for action to combat this issue.
Producer Dil Raju, known for his significant contributions to the industry, expressed his frustration over the lack of unity when addressing piracy. He pointed out that the problem only affects the producer whose film is pirated, and once the weekend is over, the industry at large shows little concern.
“There is no unity in the industry, which is why major changes aren’t taking place. The pain of piracy is only felt by the producer during the opening weekend—on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. After that, no one cares. If we were united, we could bring about change, but that’s not happening,” Dil Raju said. He emphasized the need for a collective effort to tackle the piracy menace, urging all producers to understand the gravity of the situation and join forces.
As of now, no producer has approached him for a solution, but as the president of the Film Development Corporation (FDC), Dil Raju is planning to meet with the police department soon to discuss strategies to combat piracy.
He further stated, “It’s time for producers to wake up. Game Changer and Thandel have been pirated, and tomorrow, your film might face the same fate. Producers with films in production, or those planning new projects, need to come forward and unite in the fight against piracy.”
