Melania Trump Unveils “Home Is Where the Heart Is” Christmas Décor at the White House

Melania Trump has officially opened the Christmas season at the White House, unveiling this year’s festive theme, “Home Is Where the Heart Is.” The décor blends classic American holiday traditions with a thoughtful nod to the nation’s upcoming 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence in 2026.

Volunteers from across the United States helped transform the Executive Mansion with an elaborate holiday display featuring 75 wreaths, 51 Christmas trees, over 700 feet of garland, 25,000 feet of ribbon, more than 2,800 gold stars, and thousands of butterflies. One notable change this year is the absence of the traditional East Wing display, following President Donald Trump’s decision to remove the structure and its colonnade to accommodate a new ballroom.

The Blue Room’s official Christmas tree is dedicated to Gold Star families, honoring the sacrifice of those who have lost loved ones in active military service. With the redesigned North Portico entrance now serving as the primary entry point, visitors will experience a refreshed holiday layout throughout the mansion.

Promoting a message of unity, gratitude, and service, Melania Trump joined Usha Vance, wife of Vice President JD Vance, at Joint Base Andrews to assemble care packages and write handwritten notes for deployed troops.

As the season begins, the White House is preparing to welcome tens of thousands of visitors throughout December, continuing a cherished American holiday tradition.
