In a disturbing incident on the evening of February 24, 2025, a stabbing attack in the Broadmeadows area of Melbourne’s northern suburbs resulted in the hospitalization of three males and the arrest of four teenagers. The altercation took place at a retail store car park, approximately 15 kilometers north of central Melbourne, around 7:30 pm local time.

Police responded to reports of a fight and stabbing at the scene, where they found two men, aged 40 and 18, with suspected stab wounds. Both victims were transported to the hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening.

Witnesses reported seeing a group of teenagers fleeing the area shortly after the incident. In response, the police deployed their air wing to the area, which led to the identification of the group entering a nearby address. Following a coordinated operation by detectives and the critical incident response team, four males — three aged 19 and one aged 18 — were arrested in connection with the attack. A fifth individual, a 14-year-old male, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was also taken to the hospital.

Authorities confirmed that the confrontation arose when the two victims, the 40-year-old and the 18-year-old, visited the car park in search of a pair of stolen headphones, which had been taken earlier from a nearby shopping center. The ensuing dispute led to the violent altercation.

Charges have been laid against the suspects, with one of the 19-year-olds facing serious charges including causing serious injury with intent in circumstances of gross violence, affray, and robbery. The other individuals have been charged with various offenses, including intentionally and recklessly causing injury, assault by kicking, and robbery.

The police are expected to interview the 14-year-old who was injured in the fight as part of their ongoing investigation. The suspects remain in custody, and further inquiries are ongoing.
