In a filmy-style incident, TRS MLA Dharma Reddy, his daughter Manasa were duped by Koya pujaris – soothsayers – to the tune of over Rs 57 Lakh. The Koya pujaris allegedly cheated MLA’s family claiming that their special pujas would brought them luck and make him a minister.
Koya pujaris Pastam Narsimha Raju and Vamshi of Karimabad, have told MLA’s daughter Manasa to do some rituals for her father to ‘become’ minister. Apparently, in the name of Graha Dosham Pujas, the Koya doras have collected money of nearly Rs 57 lakh. With no result and pujaris asking ‘more’ money, MLA has suspected ‘something wrong’ and approached the cops.
Initially, the Koya pujaris have acquainted with MLA’s daughter Manasa who was then ‘offering prayers’ to God for kids. That is when Koya doras have told her that she would be blessed by a baby girl. In the meantime, she underwent some medical treatment due to which she is blessed with a baby. This is what said to have influenced her to trust the words of Koya pujaris. This is not all. The Koya pujaris have also told Manasa that she would also become MLA ‘soon’.
Cops have now booked cheating cases against Pastam Narsimha Raju and Pastam Vamsi. The incident has shocked many in the government and district as it once again proved that how even legislators are falling prey to age-old superstitions.
