Kingdom Faces Delay as BGM Hurdles Threaten May 30 Release
Vijay Deverakonda’s most ambitious pan-India film to date, Kingdom, is reportedly heading toward an unavoidable delay. While the team had earlier locked May 30 as the grand release date, the clock is ticking fast—and with just over a month to go, industry insiders are starting to doubt if the film will make it in time.
Although the production team is working round-the-clock to stick to schedule, all is not smooth behind the scenes. Dubbing has recently picked up pace, with Vijay himself diving into the recording process. Some behind-the-scenes snippets have been released, giving fans a sneak peek into the progress.
However, the major bottleneck lies in the film’s background score. Composer Anirudh Ravichander, known for his stellar work, is reportedly tied up with prior commitments and is struggling to carve out time for Kingdom’s re-recording. Given Anirudh’s track record, expectations are sky-high, and rushing the BGM could seriously compromise the film’s emotional depth and cinematic impact.
The urgency to meet the May 30 release isn’t just about wrapping up post-production—it’s also a strategic move. June is stacked with heavyweight releases like Kubera, Thug Life, and Kannappa. If Hari Hara Veera Mallu also shifts to June, the competition will be intense. Missing the May window could dilute Kingdom’s box office potential, especially since it aims to make a mark across multiple languages.
The team had carefully secured a solo release date, a rarity in the crowded release calendar. Losing it now could lead to logistical headaches and financial strain. Adding to the challenge, the film still needs at least two solid weeks for a nationwide promotional blitz.
As fans wait with bated breath, all eyes are now on Anirudh and the post-production crew to see if Kingdom can cross the finish line in time—and with the grandeur it deserves.
