MPs, MLAs, bureaucrats, state govt staff to make monthly contribution to Telangana Green Fund

HYDERABAD: In order to inculcate a sense of participation in the development of greenery, the Telangana government introduced “Haritha Fund” (Telangana Green Fund) for which students, state government employees, elected representatives and All India Service officers will contribute.

Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao announced the Green Fund concept during a short discussion on the “Haritha Haram” programme in the Legislative Assembly.

According to Rao, IAS, IPS and IFS officers will contribute Rs 100 per month from their salaries for the Green Fund. State government employees will contribute Rs 25 per month. MPs, MLAs and MLCs will contribute Rs 500 per month.

Students have to pay a one-time Green Fund at the time of admission. The contribution will be Rs 5 for elementary schools, Rs 15 for high schools, Rs 25 for intermediate colleges, Rs 50 for degree admissions and Rs 100 for professional course admissions.

Besides, the government will collect Rs 50 for every registration of documents and other registrations. Around 8,000 registrations are taking place in the state. The government will also collect Rs 1,000 as Green Fund at the time of renewal of various licences.

Podu lands

The Chief Minister said that the ‘podu land’ issue will be resolved and pattas will be given to tribals for around six to seven lakh acres, besides the existing three lakh acres. He said that the Assembly would adopt a resolution and send the same to the central government to extend the cut-off date from 2015, to give more number of Records of Forest Rights (RoFR) pattas to tribals.
