Rubbishing the obsession of Chandrababu Naidu government towards Swiss Challenge mode, YSR Congress has said TDP has been treading a different path which goes against the state the interests and the methodology of the bidding has drawn flak from various quarters.”The Dr Vijay Kelkar Committee Report on Public Private Participation (PPP) has strongly opposed the Swiss Challenge mode as it lacks transparency and goes against the state’s interest.

The mode was written off by the Committee in the Report submitted to the Department of Economic Affairs, Finance Ministry recently,” party senior leader Botsa Satyanarayana told reporters here on Saturday. The Committee, comprising eight eminent personalities, had also said the bidding process would be unfair and the Swiss Challenge method is not suitable to the country as it lack transparency and equal opportunity to all the bidders.

“Why then Chandrababu is going against the rule of the land and has agreed to give the capital region development to Singapore companies on Swiss Challenge mode is questionable and the vested interests are very much in the open. This apart the Chief Secretary too has commented that there is a Supreme Court ruling against the Swiss Challenge mode and it is detrimental to the state interests,” he said.

There has been widespread opposition to the Swiss Challenge mode but the TDP government has opted for it to favour its coterie. We are not opposed to the capital formation but we are opposed to the MoUs which are harmful to the national and state interests.Chandrababu Naidu has earlier said that it was the Singapore government that is building the capital but later it was categorically said that private companies have signed the MoUs and the government has nothing to do with capital formation.
