Former minister and Kapu strongman Mudragada Padmanabham seems have decided not to stop his padayatra with just from his home town of Kirlampudi to Amaravati, but has a larger plan.
It was evident from his statement issued to the media on Tuesday. It called upon the people of Kapu community to come to Kirlampudi on July 26 for an “indefinite padayatra.”
It created an impression as to whether the padayatra would continue beyond Amaravati, though the statement was titled “Chalo Amaravati.”
May be, Mudragada wants to sustain the Kapu movement for a longer period, instead of concluding with the padayatra upto Amaravati.
Already, he declared that Kapus would not be satisfied with their inclusion in the existing BC quota, since it would lead to confrontation with the other BCs. He said the Kapus are demanding an exclusive quota for themselves.
This is of course, a difficult situation for TDP president and AP chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, since it required a Constitutional amendment. That is precisely why Mudragada has been raising the issue of a Muslim quota in Telangana.
“An inexperienced chief minister of Telangana has got a resolution passed in the assembly demanding 12 per cent quota for Muslims and bringing pressure on the Centre to include the same in Schedule IX of the constitution. Why can’t our so-called experienced chief minister do it?” he asked.
