Ever since the record-breaking success of Prabhas and Deepika Padukone’s Kalki 2898 AD, fans have been eagerly awaiting news on its highly anticipated sequel. Both director Nag Ashwin and producer Ashwini Dutt had earlier confirmed that the shoot for Kalki 2 would begin towards the end of this year.

In a recent podcast, Nag Ashwin was asked the one question every fan wants answered — When is Kalki 2 coming? His response, however, was cautious.
“A lot of things are interconnected. The actors have to come together, and some of the previsualized and action sequences are much bigger this time. So it will take some time. I don’t have an exact answer,” the director admitted.

He further explained, “Everyone is busy with their own projects. We are hoping to start by the end of this year. Shooting itself will take a while, but post-production will be even longer. Hopefully, in another two to three years, that’s what I think.”

Meanwhile, Prabhas has a packed schedule. He is currently working on Raja Saab and Prabhas Hanu, aiming to wrap up Raja Saab by the end of this month, while Prabhas Hanu will continue for a while longer. On top of that, Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit is expected to go on floors by September or October, with buzz suggesting that Vanga waited specifically to preserve Prabhas’s look for the film.

With such a tight lineup, fans are now questioning how Prabhas will balance Kalki 2, which demands a different look and extensive production time.

Released in June 2024, Kalki 2898 AD grossed over ₹1000 crore worldwide, becoming a landmark in Indian cinema. Featuring legends like Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan in pivotal roles, the mythological sci-fi epic has set expectations sky-high for its sequel.
