Producer Naga Vamsi faced intense trolling following the underperformance of War 2. Having acquired the theatrical rights to the NTR–Hrithik Roshan film, Vamsi, buoyed by his close relationship with NTR, had made bold public predictions and encouraged fans to boost the film’s collections beyond the Hindi version.
When the film failed to meet expectations, the backlash was swift. Social media critics and some fan groups targeted him, with unverified reports claiming he had gone off the grid, switched off his phone, and fled to Dubai to avoid distributors. Some posts even suggested he was bankrupt.
Addressing the rumors during an interview on Ravi Teja’s Mass Jathara, Naga Vamsi clarified that his earlier comments stemmed from excitement for NTR’s Bollywood debut. He dismissed the reports of fleeing or bankruptcy, rhetorically asking, “If I were bankrupt, how would I hide in Dubai—where would I get the money to go there?”
Vamsi’s candid response aims to put an end to speculation, redirecting attention to the film and its creators rather than online gossip.
