The World Audio Visual Entertainment Summit (WAVES), currently underway in Mumbai, is drawing top stars from across the Indian film industry. With luminaries like Rajinikanth, Chiranjeevi, Shah Rukh Khan, Mohanlal, and Amitabh Bachchan gracing the event, today saw King Nagarjuna adding to the star power.
Nagarjuna not only participated in a panel discussion but also officially launched the Telangana stall at the summit, showcasing the state’s contribution to cinema and culture.
During a lively panel discussion on Pan-India cinema — joined by Anupam Kher, Karthi, and Khushboo — Nagarjuna shared insightful thoughts about the evolving taste of audiences and the success of larger-than-life storytelling in Indian films.
Citing the examples of Pushpa, KGF, and Baahubali, Nagarjuna said, “Films like Pushpa actually earned more outside the Telugu states. Around 90 out of 100 people watch these movies to experience the magic on the big screen. They love seeing iconic characters like Pushpa Raj, Rocky Bhai, and Baahubali in grand, powerful avatars. I personally enjoy these kinds of films and heroes too.”
He further emphasized that the massive success of such films isn’t solely due to their lead characters. “It’s not just about the hero — strong content is the foundation. Even a director like Rajamouli made Baahubali in Telugu, but its storytelling brought it international acclaim,” Nagarjuna added.
The event continues to spotlight India’s rich cinematic landscape, with more discussions, launches, and announcements expected in the coming days.
