Naidu Proposes World-Class Airport for Amaravati to Boost Capital Growth

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has reaffirmed his commitment to the comprehensive development of Amaravati, with a renewed focus on transforming it into a world-class capital. A key component of this vision is the establishment of a state-of-the-art international airport to enhance connectivity, attract investment, and elevate the region’s growth trajectory.

As part of his recent visit to New Delhi, the Chief Minister engaged in high-level discussions centered on the state’s development agenda. During these interactions, he articulated the importance of robust infrastructure in shaping a globally competitive capital, specifically highlighting the transformative potential of a modern airport in Amaravati.

In line with this vision, Mr. Naidu recently toured the newly inaugurated Terminal 2 of Bengaluru International Airport. He conducted an in-depth study of the facility’s architecture, operations, and technological framework, meeting directly with the airport’s operations chief to gain firsthand insights into its development and functioning.

Drawing parallels to the successful development of the Hyderabad International Airport—an initiative he championed during his previous tenure—Mr. Naidu emphasized the viability of implementing a similar public-private partnership model for Amaravati. The Hyderabad airport, funded through private investment, was lauded for setting a benchmark in infrastructure development without placing a financial burden on the state.

While immediate construction plans are yet to be finalized, the proposal reflects the Chief Minister’s forward-thinking approach and his determination to build Amaravati as a capital city of global standards. The airport project, he noted, would not only enhance the city’s accessibility and economic viability but also significantly contribute to its long-term urban and commercial growth.
