BJP’s senior leader and Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu turned emotional soon after party chosen him for Vice President. Venkaiah, who has been with BJP since the beginning of his political career, stated that he is feeling like leaving his ‘mother’ (BJP). “I feel like I am leaving my mother. BJP has always been a mother to me,” Naidu reportedly said at a meeting. Naidu lost his mother when he was 18 months old – she was killed by a bull. “Since then, I always considered the party as my mother,” Naidu told small-group of media.
From a farmer’s son to Vice Presidential candidate, Venkaiah Naidu has come a long way in a long political career spanning over 45 years. Ideology, hard work are said to be his success formula. Venkaiah has always used all the opportunities that come his way in a right manner and proved his mettle.
Over the last three years, Venkaiah has been Modi’s voice. He was the one who described Modi as “God’s gift to India”, “Messiah of the poor”, and coined the following definitions for Modi’s name – “Modifier of Developing India” and “Making of Developed India”.
Venkaiah’s elevation to Vice President is certainly a huge loss to BJP politically, however, Amit Shah ‘wanted’ an experienced person and non-controversial figure like Venkaiah to ‘handle’ Rajya Sabha as well as to ‘send strong signals’ to South that BJP is keen on ‘encouraging’ South.
