Naidu Warns MLAs: Serve People, Not Just Attend TANA

The Telugu Desam Party’s historic resurgence in the 2024 elections is widely credited to the unwavering leadership of Chandrababu Naidu. Despite enduring the party’s most challenging phase between 2019 and 2024—marked by defections and dwindling morale—Naidu remained steadfast. Now, as the TDP returns to power, he is fully focused on rebuilding the party and strengthening its base for the road ahead.

But cracks in the ranks have begun to show.

At a recent crucial strategy meeting called by the Chief Minister, a staggering 56 TDP MLAs were absent. What particularly irked Naidu was that nearly 15 of them had travelled to the United States to attend the TANA (Telugu Association of North America) conference—skipping vital party business back home.

Clearly upset, Naidu didn’t mince words.

“You cannot disappear for four years and reappear just before elections, expecting results,” he reportedly told the absentee legislators. “Public service is not seasonal. If you keep running to TANA and ATA events, the people will say ‘TATA’ to you.”

His blunt remark served as a strong reminder: winning power is just the beginning—earning people’s trust every day is what sustains it.
