It’s now official: Nandamuri Balakrishna has been conferred with the prestigious Padma Bhushan award, with the ceremony taking place last night in the presence of several distinguished personalities. The honor was presented by the President of India, marking a significant milestone in the actor’s illustrious career.
Following the grand presentation, Balakrishna, overwhelmed with joy, spoke to the media, expressing his heartfelt gratitude. Reflecting on the honor, he said, “I am truly overjoyed. I have 4500 registered fans, and I am immensely grateful to each one of them. My heartfelt thanks to the Government of India. Over my 50 years in the industry, I’ve contributed not only as an actor but also as an MLA and a founder of one of the five largest hospitals in the country. This recognition is incredibly special to me.”
Balakrishna further remarked, “Many people told me that I deserved the Padma award earlier, but I believe the timing is perfect. It comes after four hit films, 15 years since I became Chairman of the Cancer Hospital, and marking 50 years in the film industry.”
