Do you know, Cheekati Gadhilo Chillakkotudu, 118 and Puli Joodham are the only three Telugu films running in urban theatres right now? Yes, there is a huge deficit of happening films in theatres while students are about to complete their exams and step into summer holidays.
Telugu box office is looking quite dull from a couple of months with no good hit taking the audiences for a ride. After F2 clicked in January, we have the likes of Mr. Majnu, Yatra, NTR Biopics, 118, Where Is Venkatalakshmi and many other films hitting cinemas but none of them clicked well. And here comes the upcoming two films that are the hope of exhibitors who are looking at losses all these days.
On March 29th, we have Lakshmi’s NTR hitting cinemas and Ram Gopal Varma has given enough hype for the film to get good openings. As elections are approaching fast in AP and T, this film is surely going to get some political mileage as well. With bigwigs like UV Creations releasing the film in many areas there will be massive theatre allocation and surely the late Nandamuri Hero should revive box office.
At the same time, we have Niharika Konidela’s Suryakantham also hitting cinemas this Friday with which she wants to score the first hit film of her career. As there is no competition, this rom-com is likely to get good reception in case if reports from the initial show are positive. Let’s see how NTR and Niharika will set things this Friday.
