Nandyal sitting MP and Janasena’s Nandyal MP candidate SPY Reddy has succumbed to prolonged illness. SPY Reddy breathed his last today a while ago at Care hospital in Hyderabad. SPY Reddy was admitted to the hospital on 3rd April following complaints of illness related to heart and kidneys.
SPY Reddy had won on YSRCP ticket in 2014 polls against the wave of Chandrababu and Narendra Modi. But he had joined TDP even before he sworn-in as MP in 2014. In 2019, TDP has fielded Mandra Shivanad Reddy from Nandyal parliamentary constituency. With this SPY Reddy had joined Janasena and contested on Janasena parliament ticket.
SPY Reddy was 68-year-old. He was born on 4th June 1950 in Kadapa district. Reddy had graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from NIT Warangal and subsequently joined the Mumbai-based Bhabha Atomic Research Centre. He had quit the position of a Scientific Officer in BARC in 1977 and had set up a plastic containers manufacturing plant in 1979. Thereafter, he diversified his company’s operations into PVC pipes manufacturing in 1984 under the name of Nandi Pipes and there was no looking back for him.
Reddy began his political career with BJP in 1991 where he had contested on BJP ticket from Nandyal parliament constituency but he was defeated. He successfully won as Nandyal MP three times in a row in 2004, 2009 and 2014. While he contested as Congress candidate in 2004 and 2009, he had contested as YCP candidate in 2014.
A couple of days ago, CBI raids were conducted at SPY Reddy’s residence over alleged loan default. During the raids, documents of few industries owned by SPY Reddy have been seized. The MP had availed loans to the tune of Rs 500 crore from numerous banks including State Bank of India and Syndicate Bank as per media reports. The raids were triggered by alleged loan defaults to banks.
