Nandyal By-poll Betting Results in A Man’s Death

In a tragic incident, a petty betting held on the recently concluded Nandyal By-Poll, claimed the life of a man in West Godavari District.

Going into details, TDP supporter Siva and YCP supporter Goli Srinivas, both belonging to Mahadevapatnam in WG district, held a small betting on the majority with which TDP would win the election. While Siva claimed TDP would get 16,000+ votes majority, the YCP supporter differed. The betting amount was Rs 5,000, and a man named Suryanarayana (55) was chosen as the middleman to settle the betting issue once the result was out.

After the result was declared, a scuffle took place between the two involved parties. During the heated argument, Goli Venkat, the brother of Srinivas, the YCP supporter who put Rs 5,000 at stake, hit on Suryanarayana’s head with an iron rod. The heavily-bleeding elderly man was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to the severe injury. Venkat has been taken into custody and police are enquiring him.

The tragic part of the story is, both the two people who involved in the betting are hale and hearty, and the one who took the job of middleman lost his life.
