The highest voter turnout (so far) in Nandyal by-election is allegedly scaring Opposition leader YS Jagan Mohan Reddy who had been camping and campaigning for his party in a single constitution for over 10 days. The large crowds standing in queues since morning is witnessed all over in Nandyal.
In many areas the voting percentage recorded has surpassed 50 percent shocking even the political pundits. Political analysts opine that the high turnout could be “advantage” for the ruling party.
Jagan has been the campaign face of YSRCP in Nandyal. Although second rung leaders such as Roja were seen once in a while, it was Jagan who totally shouldered the campaign.
Since Nandyal by-poll is considered as semi-final ahead of general elections in 2019 and a referendum to Chandrababu Naidu-led TDP’s 3-year ruling, this is equally crucial for YSRCP and Jagan as this election would seal the fate of 2019
