One of the flagship initiatives of IT Minister Nara Lokesh, the revolutionary WhatsApp Governance Model, has transformed public services in Andhra Pradesh, bringing 161 essential civil services to citizens’ fingertips.
It has been just a week since this model was launched, and the response has been nothing short of phenomenal. In its very first week, 2,64,555 transactions were recorded, covering a wide range of services such as electricity bill payments, endowment services, Aadhaar documentation, and more.
While the expectation was that users would gradually adapt to this new system over time, the overwhelming adoption in the first week itself proves its instant success. As awareness spreads, the number of users is only expected to grow, making public services more accessible and efficient.
Notably, temple-related services have also been integrated into this model. Devotees can now book darshan, puja, donations, accommodation, and travel through WhatsApp for major temples, including Vijayawada Kanaka Durgamma Temple, Srisailam, Srikalahasti, Simhachalam, Annavaram, and Dwaraka Tirumala.
Minister Lokesh has already announced that a second upgrade to this project is in the pipeline, which will introduce even more services. With these upcoming enhancements, the number of users is expected to rise significantly, further strengthening Andhra Pradesh’s digital governance model.
