Vishnu Manchu’s upcoming mythological epic Kannappa is shaping up to be one of the most ambitious Indian cinematic ventures in recent times. Inspired by the legendary tale of Kannappa—a devout follower of Lord Shiva who makes the ultimate sacrifice out of devotion—the film is backed by a star-studded cast including Mohan Babu, Akshay Kumar, Mohanlal, and features a special appearance by Prabhas.

Determined to give Kannappa a grand nationwide appeal, Vishnu Manchu is actively leading the promotions. From region-specific strategies to direct engagement with media houses, he’s making sure the film resonates with audiences across languages and cultures. The recently released trailer has already garnered massive attention for its impressive visuals, spiritual undertones, and cinematic scale. It was launched in Kochi—a thoughtful move that brought Malayalam legend Mohanlal into the promotional spotlight. The Kerala media welcomed the film with enthusiasm, and the visuals of Mohanlal alongside Vishnu went viral, sparking interest throughout South India.

In a recent media interaction, Vishnu expressed his long-standing admiration for Malayalam cinema, naming icons like Mohanlal and Mammootty as his all-time favorites. “I never miss their films,” he said. He also praised Fahadh Faasil’s work, specifically highlighting Trance as a performance that deeply impressed him. “Fahadh’s intensity in Trance blew me away,” he remarked.

Vishnu further revealed that he’s a big fan of the 2024 Malayalam hit Aavesham, starring Fahadh Faasil. The action-comedy became a cultural phenomenon with its energetic storytelling and unique characters, finding success both in theatres and on OTT platforms. Vishnu admitted that he seriously considered remaking Aavesham in Telugu. “I genuinely wanted to do it, but someone else had already secured the rights,” he shared.

This revelation comes as Aavesham continues to trend among Telugu audiences post its digital release. The film’s mix of humor and high-octane action struck a chord, and discussions about a potential Telugu remake have flooded social media. Fans have been pitching stars like Nandamuri Balakrishna and Ravi Teja for the lead role—Balakrishna for his mass appeal and Ravi Teja for his comedic timing and flair.

Amidst all this, Vishnu remains laser-focused on Kannappa, which is being mounted as a visually rich, emotionally driven devotional fantasy drama. With breathtaking locations, heavy VFX work, and a powerful spiritual narrative, the film is set to release worldwide on June 27. Vishnu hopes to not only tell a compelling story but also transport audiences into the divine world of Lord Shiva through Kannappa.
