Film stars taking part in various social causes and life-saving charity works is nothing new in Tollywood. In the process, they also inspire their fans and well-wishers towards being socially responsible. In one such incident, an NRI friend of Tollywood star Nara Rohith named Shankar Mangapuram from Columbus, USA, has donated 3 lakhs to a Hyderabadi girl named Akhila, who has been suffering from severe lungs related ailments.
Akhila’s poor parents admitted her to a private hospital, where the doctors said that she has to undergo two critical surgeries and the treatment would cost close to 4 lakhs. A popular TV channel aired Akhila’s plight and it moved Shankar so deeply that he immediately responded by donating a cheque for 3 lakhs. Shankar got his friend, Nara Rohit, to donate the amount to Akhila.
Speaking on the occasion, Nara Rohit appreciated Shankar’s humanitarian gesture and said that the NTR Trust too has been working towards such causes since a long time and that he too will continue to and take part in social causes in the future. Needless to say, the overwhelmed parents of Akhil couldn’t thank Shankar enough. Akhila also received financial help for several donors from the city.
