Dhurandhar Turns into a Massive Box Office Juggernaut

The most talked-about subject in film trade circles at the moment is the sensational box office performance of Dhurandhar. Making his directorial comeback after six years, URI filmmaker Aditya Dhar has returned with his second feature film, starring Ranveer Singh in the lead. The film hit theatres on Friday, December 5, and despite a relatively slow opening, it has now transformed into a massive box office juggernaut.
Dhurandhar opened with ₹28 crore nett in the North and went on to close its first week with collections nearing ₹210 crore nett. The momentum only intensified in the second week, with the film raking in approximately ₹260 crore nett—an extraordinary feat that not only surpassed its first-week total but also set an all-time record for the highest second-week collection in North India. In the process, it broke the previous record held by Pushpa 2, which had earned around ₹200 crore nett in its second week.
Entering its third week, Dhurandhar has already crossed the ₹500 crore nett mark and continues to show strong hold at the box office. Even with the release of Avatar: Fire and Ash on December 19, the impact on Dhurandhar is expected to be minimal. With the Christmas and New Year holidays ahead and no major Hindi releases scheduled, the film is comfortably heading towards the ₹600 crore nett milestone, with a strong possibility of touching ₹700 crore.
The film is also on track to emerge as the highest-grossing movie of the year, potentially surpassing Kantara: Chapter 1. Whether it can reach the coveted ₹1,000 crore gross mark remains to be seen.
Notably, Dhurandhar has achieved this phenomenal success with just a single Hindi version. However, as with most major blockbusters, there is growing curiosity among Telugu audiences, leading to strong demand for a Telugu dubbed version.
Produced by Jyoti Deshpande, Aditya Dhar, and Lokesh Dhar under the banners of Jio Studios and B62 Studios, Dhurandhar boasts a powerful ensemble cast including Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, Sara Arjun, and Rakesh Bedi, with Manav Gohil, Danish Pandor, Saumya Tandon, and Gaurav Gera playing key roles.
