The YS Jagan Mohan Reddy government has once again cracked its whip on the former Intelligence chief AB Venkateswara Rao. It has been nearly a month since the Supreme Court vacated the high court’s stay order on the suspension of this senior IPS officer.
It is known that Venkateswara Rao faced many allegations of conspiring along with the then ruling party TDP to target the opposition YSRCP. Along with that he also accused of colluding with an Israeli defence equipment manufacturing firm to illegally award critical intelligence and surveillance contract to his son Chetan Sai Krishna.
Now, the AP government has initiated a disciplinary committee under Section 8 of the All-India Services Rules, 1969, and he was served the notices. AB needs to give a written explanation within 15 days on the charges made against him by the ACB.
The government duly mentioned that if Rao fails to either give an written explanation or dispose himself infront of the government in the intended time period, an immediate action will be initiated against him.
