From time immemorial, we cannot deny the fact that Indian actresses always had less screen time than actors. Also, age and marriage matters in spite of achieving peaks in their careers. Actress Samantha too raises the point on how silver screen sees the great difference in a way the female folks are treated.
The actress admits that ever since her wedding with Naga Chaitanya happened in 2017, she has been getting fewer offers compared to her career before marriage. In one of her recent interactions with Rajeev Masand, a popular Indian film critic, Samantha confessed that she is under the burden of being a married woman in the industry. Having the own concept of a married woman and audience’ perspective, any actress is afraid of becoming invisible in the industry. However, Samantha is still considered as one of the top actresses in Tollywood.
With amazing recent films like Rangasthalam, Mahanati and Majili, Samantha is continuing to rule the roost. However, she says there is a vivid difference in directors approaching her before and after marriage. “I believe that now I am not getting as many films as I did before marriage, but I think that’s more because they really don’t know what to do with me anymore in the film,” she remarked.
The actress has also confirmed in the same interview that she will never enter into Bollywood as she has got a lot to prove herself in South. She later went on to say that social media trolls have initially given her pain, affecting her mental stability.
