Now, AP Has A Sister State In Japan

In a move to improve cultural relations and develop bilateral trade, the Andhra Pradesh government has decided to give the sister province status to Toyama state in Japan. The decision is a result of AP CM Chandrababu Naidu’s recent visit to Japan and his meetings with the Toyama state administrative authorities.

Chandrababu requested Toyama state’s cooperation in evolving a development strategy for Andhra Pradesh. Enthusiastic industrialists from Toyama even came up with investment proposals, which are yet to be finalized. A state delegation, headed by PV Ramesh, Principal Finance Secretary, left for Toyama to sign an MoU on the proposed sister province.

Toyama shares several similar features with AP, primarily in the agriculture and aquaculture sectors. Like AP, Toyama too brims with port-based trade and the flourishing pharmaceutical industry.

The delegation will also meet the Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to invite him for the foundation stone-laying ceremony for Amaravati on 22nd  October.
