NTR Turns Villain in War 2 – But What About Tollywood?

Share

It’s now official — Young Tiger NTR is making his grand Bollywood debut with War 2, playing a powerful antagonist. Initially, there was a lot of speculation around his role, but the recently released promos made it clear: NTR is portraying a strong, menacing villain who will stand toe-to-toe with the hero. The film promises an intense face-off between hero and villain, which will be a major highlight.

If NTR has agreed to play such a character, the script must have provided strong justification. After all, presenting a mass superstar as a villain needs solid logic — something that adds weight to the narrative. What’s interesting now is, fans are wondering: would NTR accept such a negative role if it were offered in a Telugu film?

Imagine a big Telugu director casting another major hero in the lead and offering the villain’s role to NTR — would he accept it? That’s the question creating a buzz among fans. Many believe that Telugu audiences, who have embraced NTR as a full-fledged hero, may not welcome seeing him in a negative shade.

A similar situation happened during the release of RRR. Some fans felt that NTR’s role was not as impactful as Ram Charan’s Sitarama Raju, which led to backlash. Fans even criticized director Rajamouli and expressed disappointment, breaking into protests in some theaters. NTR, however, remained silent through it all, leading to rumors of a rift between him and Rajamouli. While everything settled down eventually, it left a lasting impression on how sensitive fans are about NTR’s portrayal.

Considering that, it’s safe to say it would be a tough call for NTR to play a villain in a Telugu movie. His fans are unlikely to accept such a move easily.
