Success in the film industry is never permanent, and even the biggest stars eventually face setbacks at the box office. A similar situation now appears to have hit young Kollywood actor Pradeep Ranganathan, whose impressive streak of back-to-back Rs 100 crore grossers has reportedly come to an end.

Interestingly, trade circles are comparing this situation with Pawan Kalyan’s recent box office journey in Tollywood. After his comeback, Pawan delivered multiple films that crossed the Rs 100 crore mark, including Vakeel Saab, Bheemla Nayak, BRO, Hari Hara Veera Mallu, and OG. Even films that received mixed talk managed to achieve the magical milestone. However, expectations were shaken when the much-hyped Ustaad reportedly failed to continue the century streak.

Now, Pradeep Ranganathan seems to be facing a similar moment in his career. After creating a sensation with Love Today, the young actor continued his success streak with films like Dude and Dragon, both of which entered the Rs 100 crore club. Following three consecutive hits, many believed Pradeep was on his way to becoming one of the strongest youth icons in Tamil cinema.

However, his latest release LIK (Love Insurance Company) has reportedly slowed down that momentum. Directed by Vignesh Shivan, the sci-fi romantic drama failed to impress audiences at the expected level despite its unique futuristic concept.

Set against a 2040 backdrop, the film attempted to blend technology and romance in a fresh way. But according to trade reports, the experimental narrative did not fully connect with viewers. Starring Krithi Shetty as the female lead, the film is said to have ended its worldwide run at around Rs 60.47 crore gross, falling well short of the Rs 100 crore mark.

Despite this setback, industry experts believe Pradeep’s popularity among youngsters remains strong. His relatable storytelling style, comedy timing, and youthful screen presence continue to resonate with audiences. Many feel the main issue with LIK was not the concept itself, but the execution and screenplay presentation.

Box office ups and downs are common even for major stars, and this phase could serve as an important learning experience for Pradeep Ranganathan. With careful script selection and stronger projects ahead, many believe the actor can quickly bounce back and return to the Rs 100 crore club once again.
