Om Raut Opens Up on Adipurush Trolls

Adipurush, the ambitious retelling of the epic Ramayana, starred Prabhas as Lord Sriram and was directed by Om Raut. Despite its grand scale and star-studded cast, the film failed to resonate with audiences and was widely criticized from its very first screenings. The backlash intensified after its OTT release, with many targeting the director for allegedly mishandling the project and not utilizing a pan-India star like Prabhas effectively.

In a recent interview with a Bollywood news portal, Om Raut reflected on the challenging phase following the film’s reception. He stated, “It is an extremely tough place to be in. You don’t do anything wrong intentionally. Mistakes happen. As I have always said, success teaches you a lot, but failure teaches you even more. The only way you can come out of it is to learn from those mistakes and make sure… they don’t happen again.”

Om Raut also highlighted the emotional toll the experience took, not just on him but on his family and team. “It emotionally breaks you, and more than you, it breaks your family, your team members, everybody around you. There is a loss of confidence, and you have to work on it. The only way you can answer these things is by doing good work. I am not sure how I survived. Maybe it was because of the support I had from my family, friends, and my close team members who are still here,” he added.

The director’s candid reflections underscore the pressures of filmmaking and the resilience required to navigate criticism and setbacks in the film industry.
