Sai Pallavi’s Bollywood Debut Ek Din Opens to Weak Response

Ek Din marks the Bollywood debut of Sai Pallavi, with its Telugu version released as Oka Roju. However, the film has opened on a rather underwhelming note.

Advance bookings remained slow, and the initial box office response has been below expectations. Despite promotional efforts, the film failed to generate strong buzz. The marketing campaign was largely focused on Mumbai, limiting its reach across other regions. Junaid Khan plays the lead, but the film hasn’t received the attention typically expected for a debut project associated with Aamir Khan.

One of the major drawbacks appears to be the storyline. Sai Pallavi’s character suffers memory loss of a single day following an accident. While the concept has emotional potential, it comes across as overly familiar. Audiences have seen similar memory-loss-based love stories multiple times, making the narrative feel predictable.

Due to this lack of novelty, Ek Din struggles to stand out. The emotional core, romantic track, and central conflict all follow a conventional pattern, which has contributed to the film’s weak reception.

Distribution is another concern. Even with a dubbed version, the film hasn’t secured a wide release in several smaller centres, further impacting its box office prospects.

Sai Pallavi is widely known for her strong script choices, making this project an unexpected pick. However, she has major films lined up ahead, including Ramayana Part 1, which is expected to put her back in the spotlight.

For now, Ek Din is finding it difficult to make a mark, with overall word of mouth remaining on the weaker side.
