Renowned Bollywood filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali will represent Indian cinema at the Republic Day parade on January 26, 2026. This marks a historic moment, as no Indian film director has previously represented the film industry at the national parade.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has collaborated with Bhansali to present a special tableau celebrating Indian cinema, which will be showcased along Kartavya Path, the main parade route in New Delhi.

Bhansali is celebrated for his grand, visually stunning films like Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Devdas, Black, Bajirao Mastani, Padmaavat, and Gangubai Kathiawadi. His work is known for blending tradition with scale, bringing Indian narratives to audiences worldwide. Over the years, he has worked with some of the biggest stars of Indian cinema, including Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor, and Alia Bhatt.
