Exactly a year ago, Andhra Pradesh witnessed a political turnaround that reshaped its future. On June 4 last year, voters delivered a resounding verdict against former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, reducing YSR Congress Party’s dominance from 151 MLAs to just 11. A week later, on June 12, Chandrababu Naidu took oath as Chief Minister for the fourth time in his illustrious political career.
June 12 now marks the first anniversary of the NDA government’s formation in Andhra Pradesh — a year defined by challenges, course correction, and steady rebuilding. The state was left in severe financial distress due to mismanagement during the previous regime, making the task of revival a steep one.
Despite the enormous challenges, the government has rolled out several impactful welfare schemes, including Pedala Sevalo, Pensions, Anna Canteens, Deepam-2, and Matsyakara Sevalo. The revival of Anna Canteens has been particularly significant, providing thousands of people across the state with affordable meals every day.
Marking the anniversary, the government is also launching the Thalliki Vandhanam program today, which will benefit over 67 lakh women, offering financial support and empowerment to millions of households.
In parallel with welfare programs, key developmental activities have also been actively pursued. Protection of the Vizag Steel Plant, establishment of the Vizag Railway Board, and significant progress on the Polavaram Project with central assistance highlight the administration’s development agenda.
On the governance front, the administration under the NDA has largely maintained stability and efficiency, instilling confidence among the people.
As with any political alliance, occasional online debates and heated discussions between supporters of TDP and JanaSena do surface, particularly on social media. Issues like Nagababu’s MLC appointment sparked considerable public debate. However, the most encouraging aspect has been the growing synergy between the alliance’s key leaders—Chandrababu Naidu, Nara Lokesh, and Pawan Kalyan. Lokesh and Pawan Kalyan, in particular, have developed a strong brotherly bond, which continues to strengthen the alliance.
This unity is expected to be the cornerstone of Andhra Pradesh’s political stability and long-term development in the coming years.
