Oohalu Gusagusalade Movie Review

Actor Srinivas Avasarala made debut as director with Oohalu Gusagusalade. This small film has caught the attention of movie buffs with cute trailers and soothing music. Oohalu Gusagusalade has enough to impress the audience who go with certain expectations after watching the trailers.
What is it about?

Venkateswara Rao (Naga Shourya) falls in love with Prabhavathi (Rashi Khanna) when they meet during a summer vacation. Prabha doesn’t approve Venky’s love and leaves him without any note. After many years Venky meets Prabhavathi again in a situation where he couldn’t confess his love. He is caught up between his love and career as he agrees to help his Boss (Srinivas Avasarala) in impressing his fiancee, who is none other than Prabhavathi!

Performance:

Naga Shourya: Naga Shourya suits the role of Venkateswara Rao to the T. He just behaves like a typical youngster and that brings so much believability to his character. He doesn’t try too hard to impress with extraordinary performance and puts it simple. Naga Shourya is a talent to watch out for.

Rashi Khanna: Rashi Khanna should consider herself lucky for bagging this beautiful role. She is elegant and did justice to her character.

Srinivas Avasarala: We all know how good an actor Srinivas Avasarala is. He has once again impressed with his portrayal of Uday character in this film. He has a unique sense of humor and that makes him special among the actors who do comedic roles.

Most of the film revolves around the three principal characters and there are some noteworthy performances from Rao Ramesh, Pragathi, Pridhvi Raj and Posani.

Technicalities:

Direction: Srinivas Avasarala is a bundle of talent. He has excelled as writer and director in this film. Dialogues written by him are witty. They will tickle you throughout the film. As a director Srinivas ably handled this film. He made sure that the film offers some pleasant romantic moments besides the entertainment and fun. We can expect more such works from Srinivas Avasarala judging by the job he has done in his maiden directorial venture.

Music: Music is in sync with the movie. All the songs come as part of the story. Kalyani Koduri’s songs and background score complements the film well.

Others: Cinematography is neat and editor also has done decent job in keeping this short and sweet. Producer Sai Korrapati has once again proved that he has good taste in choosing the scripts. He should be lauded for backing a film like OGL.

Thumbs Up:

Thumbs Down:

Pace is bit slow at times

Few comedy scenes didn’t come out as desired

Analysis:

Oohalu Gusagusalade is a genuine romantic comedy that checks all the boxes of the genre. The story of the film is simple and the director kept everything sweet and simple. Right from the actors performance to the work done by all the technicians is in perfect sync with the feel of the movie. Debut director Srinivas Avasarala deserves a pat for having so much command over all the crafts.

Oohalu Gusagusalade is a director’s film and there are some feel good moments that one would appreciate the skills of the director. Srinivas also excelled as a writer by coming up with some genuinely humorous dialogues. First half of the film has very good romantic scenes especially in the Vizag episode.

Second half focuses on the comedy part with Srinivas Avasarala dominating the show. Certain parts in this second half could have been dealt better. The pace gets noticeably slow at times which will restrict its audience. Despite the minor hiccups and slow pace this film will appeal to the target audience. This film has potential to do well in Cities if promoted aggressively. Watch it if you are a fan of romantic comedies.

Verdict: Impressive Romantic Entertainer.
