Beleaguered Gali Janardhan Reddy has been blocked by the Supreme Court in regard to Karnataka poll campaign. The Apex court said Gali is not allowed to campaign in Bellary of Karnataka where his brother Gali Somashekhara Reddy is contesting from BJP.
Gali Janardhan Reddy is a key accused in the illegal export of iron ore mined from Karnataka. It is estimated that a whopping Rs 12,000 Crore of iron ore is illegally exported from 9 different ports spread across four states. After spending three years in jail in connection with the above cases, Gali is out on bail.
Amidst this backdrop, Gali has submitted a plea to the Supreme Court seeking approval to campaign in Bellari for his brother. However, the Supreme Court dismissed his plea stating that it doesn’t find any merit in his plea. This is considered as a huge set back to Gali brothers and Gali’s followers in Karnataka.
It can be noted that BJP has given tickets to 9 of Gali’s close aides in Karnataka polls who include Sriramulu, Sai Kumar and others.
