Padma Awards 2025: President Murmu Honours 71 Achievers

At a prestigious Civil Investiture Ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi, President Droupadi Murmu honored 71 distinguished individuals with the Padma Awards 2025—India’s third-highest civilian honors recognizing exceptional contributions across fields like art, medicine, literature, sports, public affairs, and social service.

This year, four were awarded the Padma Vibhushan, 10 received the Padma Bhushan, and 57 were conferred the Padma Shri.

Prominent Padma Vibhushan awardees included Dr. D. Nageshwar Reddy (Medicine) and Dr. L. Subramaniam (Art), while M.T. Vasudevan Nair and Osamu Suzuki were honored posthumously.

Among the Padma Bhushan recipients were actor-politician Nandamuri Balakrishna, filmmaker Shekhar Kapur, and former Indian hockey captain Sreejesh P.R. Former Bihar Deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi was awarded posthumously.

Padma Shri honorees featured cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin, ex-SBI Chairperson Arundhati Bhattacharya, American author Stephen Knapp, flautist Ronu Majumdar, and Carnatic vocalist Dr. K Omankutty Amma.

Dignitaries present included Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

Speaking to Akashvani News, recipients expressed heartfelt gratitude. Arundhati Bhattacharya highlighted her role in the Jan Dhan Yojana, Ronu Majumdar praised the government for recognizing art, and Omankutty Amma recalled her early years at All India Radio. Stephen Knapp shared his appreciation for being honored by India.
