Movies rejected by mega camp are proving lucky for Akkineni Nagarjuna in the recent days. As the result of ‘Manam’ proved this thing, Nagarjuna has sealed a third film in a row that was not approved by Mega heroes. Check this interesting story.

When director Vikram Krishna narrated ‘Manam’ to Ram Charan, the happening Tollywood hero haven’t got so much excited. Probably he would have regretted his decision after watching the magic of it on silver screen. In the likes of his cousin, Allu Arjun rejected Vijay Kumar Konda’s movie after the director scored success with Gunde Jaari Gallantayyinde, which was also a movie that was first narrated to him. That film is now being shot with Naga Chaitanya as ‘Oka Laila Kosam’. And here comes Allu Sirish, doing similar thing.

After listening to a couple of iterations of a story narrated by director Pavan Sadineni (Prema Ishq Kadal fame), Sirish has let the project go. Immensely liking this story, Nagarjuna has approved Pawan’s new project in a day and now Sumanth-Swathi are going to feature in this flick. We have to see if these two films will also spell a success like Manam.

We have already shared long back that ‘Rockstar’ siren Nargis Fakhri is all set to debut in South with ‘Julayi’ movie. To be more precise, this hot lady will be replacing sizzling anchor Udaya Bhanu in the Tamil remake of Allu Arjun’s super hit movie. Jeans fame Prashant is remaking Julyai as ‘Sahasam’ in Tamil.

Sharing her thoughts over debuting in South as an item-girl, Nargis says that she has no qualms doing it. ‘Debuting with item number is not a bad thing. South songs and dances are much different from what is done in Bollywood. They are more exciting’, she says, after wrapping her shoot for the song. Talking about the movie, ‘I heard the story line and it is superb. Intelligent heroes always excite me and so is this hero’s character’, said Nargis, adding spice to her talk.

An ace Telugu film maker who is known for spending money like nothing is also interested to cast Nargis in an upcoming big ticket entertainer. He wants to take a decision after watching Nargis in Sahasam. So, get ready Tollywood!

Undeterred by the debacles Emo Gurram Egaravachu and Daggaraga Dooramga, Sumanth is moving on to his next. The news has it that he is teaming up with Swati again for his next.

Rumours were rife that the film is remake of Hrithik Roshan starrer ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’. Rubbishing them, Sumanth took to his micro-blogging page Twitter and clarifies, “Contrary to some reports, my next is NOT a remake of Zindagi na Milegi Dobara! I loved that film though, coming to think of it:)”

Both Swati and Sumanth earlier proved to be hit pair with Golconda High School. Sumanth is apparently assuming Swati as his lucky mascot and hoping that the coming film would end his flop streak at Box Office.

Buzz: Suriya’s Help to Nag

suriya

Actor-philanthropist Suriya is very down-to-earth actor and known for helping others. But not many know that Suriya has helped Tollywood superstar Nagarjuna Akkineni and Nag himself revealed this on Thursday night during the audio launch of Suriya-Samantha’s Sikander.

Sometime back, Nagarjuna had called Suriya and asked him for a small help to which Suriya immediately agreed to do. Nag shared, “I had once telephoned Suriya and asked him whether he’s interested to promote the HIV campaign to bring awareness among people. He immediately agreed to do it and he came along with Jyothika for the promotion. I’ll never ever forget this help of Suirya.”

That’s the bonding between Suriya and Nagarjuna. Besides Nag, Suriya shares great bond with producer Allu Aravind since successful run of Gajini.

Is Shahrukh Picking Pawan Or Mahesh?

Ever since Salman Khan is walking with wonders by remaking Telugu movies, many Bollywood stars are looking forward to grab some blockbusters of the South industry. Among the 7 films of Sallu Bhai that have crossed 100 crores revenue in first week itself including latest ‘Kick’, five are remakes of Telugu flicks only.

Post the super success of ‘Chennai Express’ that got South flavour all over, Baadshah Shahrukh is looking forward to remake a Telugu movie on his own banner. Earlier there was buzz that he is keen on remaking Mahesh Babu’s ‘Seethamma Vaakitlo Sirimalle Chettu’ as such multi-starrer films always worked for him. Later that news got fizzled and latest talk is that he wants to grab rights of Pawan Kalyan’s Attarintiki Daredi. SRK wants to make sure that his solo performance like a Pawan in AD is going to create a wonder at Bollywood box office.

Maybe remake frontrunners like Salman and Akshay will not run for Pawan’s AD because the film got no ‘mass masala’ content. This will give an edge for Shahrukh to buy the rights, and we have to see what really happens.

Villa For Vinayak, Sops For Samantha

Despite the fact that ‘Alludu Seenu’ will face little trouble in the end to recover the whole budget invested, producer Bellamkonda Suresh turns golden for his race-horses. Unlike what is being popularized in the media, here comes truth about that villa and cash prize.

It is highly rumored that Bellamkonda has gifted a posh villa to seductress Samantha for agreeing to sizzle alongside newcomer, his son Srinivas. And her glamorous skin show literally paid off in B and C centres. However, there is no speck of truth in this gossip. But insiders revealed that Samantha got terrific sops from the producer including a ‘bonus’ payment. Her whole remuneration including all the gifts given by Bellamkonda will not be exceeding 2 crores anyway. Then how come this villa talk has sprung?

A few weeks back director VV Vinayak has invited media to a newly constructed posh and luxury villa in Jubilee Hills to give a special interview on the eve of his birthday. Do you remember? That villa is said to be a gift of Bellamkonda for the happening director apart from the 10 crores remuneration he paid to him. Quite unbelievable!

Coming Soon: Cinema City in 2000 Acres

Amid reports, rumours that Telugu film fraternity is mulling over to shift its base to the new State of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana government is making quick moves to woo the honchos of film industry. Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao is apparently leaving no brick unturned to woo filmdom. Going by sources, Mr KCR is contemplating to set up a Cinema City, spanned over 2000 acre in and around Hyderabad. KCR has reportedly divulged his plans in a review meeting with authorities of industries department at the Secretariat on Thursday.

We hear that this move of KCR is to bring more investments in Hyderabad in entertainment sector and thus increase of employment opportunities to locales. ” Hyderabad is already the destination for several film shootings across the country. Bollywood and other language film shootings are being held in Hyderabad. Now KCR wants to further develop infrastructure in order to improve film and TV industries. As part of this, he said a new Cinema City in 2000 acres is on cards,” said sources in the know. However, the land has not been chosen yet, added sources.

Though KCR is coming up with Cinematic City, it’s not sure whether it would be handed over to Telangana filmmakers or it would be used for the purpose of Telugu film industry as whole. There are several unanswered questions on this at the moment. Ever since Telangana is carved out of Hyderabad, several Telugu filmmakers from Andhra region expressed their insecurity at several platforms and wanted to shift their base. Already producer Suresh Babu, along with venture capitalist Srini Raju, is setting ground to set up a massive studio in Tada of Nellore. Suresh Babu even owns a Studio in Vizag. Many others are supppose to join the suit.

Kick Review : Bad Remake – 2/5

Putrid remake Kicks out Kick

Notwithstanding the Box Office failure of Jai Ho (Stalin remake), Salman Khan braces up with yet another Southern remake – Kick (remake of Telugu Kick penned by Vakkantham Vamsi). Salman’s Kick has hit the screens this Friday, on the eve of Eid. Like all Salman’s Eid releases, naturally, expectations are too high on this offing. Curious to know whether the film lived up to all the hype or not? Sadly, it’s not. Fairly put, this Kick is a putrid copy of the original (Ravi Teja-Ileana starrer).

Kick is the story of Devi Lal Singh aka Devil who does anything, everything for kick. Yet, Devi’s heart is at right place that makes Dr Shaina (Jacqueline) fall for him. But the fairy love tale ends abruptly within no time. Shaina finds her new fiance Himanshu (Randeep Hooda), a tough cop who is desperately hunting for Devil. To all the latecomers, Devil is a masked thief who robs corrupt in order to help ailing children all over India. Devil is none other than Devi. Everyone knows this except Himanshu, Dr Shaina. Like all the films of thief versus super-cop, this one too showcases cat-and-rat race. How did Himanshu track down Devil? Can he nab him? What forms the rest is the story.

As the movie kicks off, you get to know that it is a ‘frame-to-frame’ remake of original, including translation of dialogues. One could draw many similarities to original, though with slight changes at times. As the film progresses, you come to terms that this Kick sans kick and it is heading nowhere. The silver lining is Salman Khan and his flawless performance. Salman gets it right, tickles your funny bone and even shed tears by getting emotional. Jacqueline is easy on eyes and does a fair job. Randeep Hooda, who reprises the role of ‘Kick’ Shyam in original as strict-yet-helpless cop, fits the bill. Nawazuddin Siddiqui, true baddie, is surprise package. Salman’s charm might work to an extent, but the film’s wafer-thin plot, poor narration mars it. The biggest stumbling block is its wretched screenplay penned by four writers including Chetan Bhagat. Looks like, too many cooks spoil the brath. The film’s slow pace add to the woes of viewers and so the not-so-soothing songs.

Unlike its trailer which is engaging, enthralling and gripping, the film is mere disappointment and falls flat. Not even many of Salman’s die-hard fans might appreciate this Kick. Original Kick – (Minus) Fun + (Plus) Too much melodrama + (Plus) Bollywood trademark acion-chase sequences+ (Plus) presenting a good cause towards the end to justify hero’s act = Bad remake of Kick. This Kick is a damp squib in many ways. If you have watched the original, just stay away from this. Else, go without any expectations. Or it’d be better if you wait till the movie telecasts on Telly.

Thumbs up:

  • Salman Khan’s performance
  • Cinematography
  • Background score

Thumbs down:

  • Wretched screenplay
  • Slow pace
  • Romantic track between lead pair
  • Music

Verdict: Devil disappoints badly

Movie Review

Alludu Seenu is the launch vehicle of Bellamkoda Suresh’s son Srinivas. It is a high budget film directed by V.V. Vinayak who uses every trick in the book to make this a commercial entertainer.

What is it about?

Seenu (Srinivas) is a street smart guy who makes a living by conning others. He takes care of his uncle Narasimha (Prakash Raj). Seenu and Narasimha come to Hyderabad to make a living. Seenu sees a man called Bhai (Prakash Raj) who exactly looks like Narasimha. Seenu uses Narasimha and cheat people for money. He also falls in love with Bhai’s daughter Anjali (Samantha).

Performances:

Srinivas:
Srinivas is a good dancer and also did well in action sequences. He did an okay job for a first timer. He took up the challenge of standing against seasoned actors and looked confident amid all of them. However he should focus more on his expressions.

Samantha: Samantha has no big role to play in this movie. She sizzled in the songs and didn’t mind wearing revealing outfits throughout the film.

Others: Prakash Raj did duel role in this film. He is good as Bhai and is a bit over the board in the role of Narasimha. Brahmanandam once again played the role of a person who gets conned by the hero and his associates. Despite getting repetitive he excelled with his trademark expressions. Pradeep Rawat, Raghu Babu and others did their bit. And yes there is Tamanna who did the first item number of her career.

Technicalities:

Direction: V.V. Vinayak plays it safe by sticking to the commercial formula. He made sure that this film is a decent launch pad for the new hero. This being a debut film of Srinivas, one would expect Vinayak to come up with some variety to offer. Vinayak is too reluctant to come out of his comfort zone.

Others: The film has rich production values. The film is so lavish and on par with that of any top hero’s movie. Cinematography is good. Editing is alright. Music is the major asset to this film. Songs are well composed and well shot too. Ace writers have worked on the script but they did a mediocre job as a team.

Thumbs Up:

  • Songs
  • Dance
  • Comedy

Thumbs Down:

  • Weak Story
  • Routine scenes

Analysis:

Alludu Seenu is a brand Vinayak’s film that is targeted at the entertainment loving audience. There are some comedy scenes that are genuinely funny, but that is not just enough for a film to stay afloat at the box office. Vinayak did everything to please the masses. There is lots of grandeur, lots of action, lots of glamour, but it lacks the most essential one, a strong script.

First half of the film starts off on an okay note and gets interesting after the protagonist start using villain’s name to make money. Love track between Samantha and Srinivas is not at all engaging. Movie moves at a fast pace and that is one of its advantages. Second half of the film has so many scenes inspired from various hit movies of recent times.

Alludu Seenu has good songs and a couple of good comedy scenes in the second half. It is an average entertainer with absolutely nothing novel to offer. This film is strictly not for audience who look for variety. It is a formulaic mass entertainer that will have to bank heavily on the brand name of Vinayak and other commercial elements to click at the box office.

Verdict: Grand Debut with a Bland Script!
