Second Hand Movie Review – An average treat

Story:

Santosh (Sudheer Varma) a depressed photographer plans to attempt suicide and narrates his story to Dental Doctor Subba Rao (Kireeti). Santhosh and Deepu (Dhanya Balakrishna) falls in love but eventually the latter ends up marrying a rich guy Mounish and the former hates women due to her. Subbarao on the other hand loves Swetcha (Dhanya Balakrishna) but she is more attracted towards the physical relationship with her ex-lover. Also there is Sahasra (Dhanya Balakrishna) who ends up in confusion with whom she has two choose between a friend or a lover Chaitu and Siddhu. How doctor (Posan Krishna Murali) resolves the problems forms the rest.

 

Performances:

Dhanya Balakrishna is extremely good in all three different roles. Her expressions are apt and the she manages to play the roles with ease.

Kireeti is fun to watch and he has got finest moments in the film. Vishnu Vardhan is decent and fits well for the role while Anuj is good too. Posani Krishna Murali is just okay. Others are adequate.

 

Technical Analysis:

Cinematography could have been better. Music is decent and so is the background score. Kishore Tirumala’s direction has innovativeness and screenplay is gripping though it could have been impressive in the second half. Dialogues are the biggest asset of Second Hand. SR Sekkhar’s editing is neat. Production values are not up to mark.

 

Analysis:

Second Hand starts off with interesting characterizations, peppy dialogues and refreshing screenplay though second half spoils it. The film deals with inter-personal relationships in realistic manner that connects well with youth. Director Kishore Tirumala has penned interesting lines. However, Second Hand have its own flaws with amateurish script though supported by decent writing. The third story lacks the needed zing like the stories of Santhosh and Subbarao and thus resulted in dragged slow pace with unnecessary melodrama in second half despite exciting interval bang. If the film could have been dealt in a clean way rather than adult comedy, it might have garnered other sections of audiences. Had the director planned for a clever screenplay in the second half too like the first hour, it would have helped the film’s tempo.

No Telangana till 2014 polls !?

No Telangana

Hyderabad: Though the Union home ministry has sent the draft Telangana Bill to the chief secretary, it is doubtful that a Telangana state will become a reality before the next general elections in 2014.

The President has referred the draft Telangana Bill to the state as per the requirement under Article 3 of the Constitution and has set six weeks, or 42 days, i.e., till January 23, for the AP Legislature to express its opinion. There is, thus, hardly any chance of the T-Bill reaching Parliament before the expiry of the Winter Session, which concludes on December 20.

Since the President granted six weeks to the state Legislature to express its views, the Centre can’t do anything on the Telangana front till the time limit lapses.

From the AP Legislature, the Telangana Bill will go back to the home ministry and then again to the President. From Rashtrapati Bhavan, it will go to the Union Cabinet for finalising the Bill. Following that it will go back to the President for his consent for introducing the Bill in either House of Parliament.

Telangana Bill in Budget session

Assuming all formalities are completed before the end of January 2014, the UPA will be in a position to place the Telangana Bill in the ensuing Vote-on-Account Budget session.

If the Bill is passed by both the Houses and the President gives his assent, a notification will be issued on formation of the Telangana state and the residuary state of Andhra Pradesh. In such case, there is a possibility that the Telangana state might be created before the 2014 polls.

However, since the Election Commission might announce the next Lok Sabha and Assembly general election schedule on March 2, Parliament needs to approve the Vote-on-Account budget for the 2014-15 financial year before that. It is a normal practice for the Union government to conclude the Vote-on-Account session in a few days without stretching it. In 2009 (the year of the last general elections), there

were only 12 working days, mainly devoted to adopting the Vote-on-Account budget as well as the thanksgiving motion of the Presidential address to the joint sitting of Parliament. Also, if the passage of the

Telangana Bill in Parliament is hampered due to political or legal complications, it will not be possible for the formation of Telangana before the polls.

Telangana ministers and even Union minister S. Jaipal Reddy are thus reportedly upset with the President for giving six weeks to the Legislature as they fear that the whole process will be further delayed.

They had earlier issued statements that Telangana would be a reality before January 1, 2014. But after realising that there were delays at the GoM and home ministry levels, they had said that the Telangana Bill would be passed in a Special Parliament Session sometime in January 2014.

However, that will also not be possible due to the long time limit given to the AP Legislature. Their only hope now is that the Bill will somehow get Parliament’s nod in February 2014, during the Budget Session.

Meanwhile, Seemandhra Congress leaders, who were upset with the party high command over the state’s bifurcation, are once again looking at possibilities of Chief Minister, Kiran Kumar Reddy, floating a new party.

These leaders are not comfortable about joining either the Telugu Desam or the YSR Congress and have been pinning their hopes on Kiran Kumar Reddy floating a new party to get them votes and seats in the next elections.

However, there is a rider for the CM to float a party. If the Telangana state is not formed before the elections, sources say he will definitely  float a party called Samaikyandhra Rakshana Samiti with a promise that he will keep the state united if he comes to power. However, if the Telangana state is formed before the elections, Reddy might not float the party.

It is still early to speculate but there seems to be some feelers coming in from Telangana TDP that all is not well between Warangal district Palakurthi MLA Errabeeli Dayakar Rao and his party. It would mean his eventual slide into another party.

Even last month witnessed some heated exchanges between the Seemandhra leaders and this Telangana MLA and head of T-TDP forum. Even Dayakar Rao admitted that Congress party is trying to woo him.
But sources say that T-JAC team under the head of its chairman Kodandaram met Dayakar Rao yesterday in Hyderabad to seek his support for the passage of T-bill in AP Assembly. Already, long time TDP member Kadiam Srihari is part of TRS.
Sources say that it is not known whether they met him as the head of T-TDP forum or whether there was any special message from TRS to this TDP MLA with reports that T-TDP is sitting on a volcano which may explode any time!

While the 14-yr-old Roshan plays Teenage Chalukya Veerabhadra in the film, the 9-yr-old Medha will be seen as Rudhramadevi in the India’s first historical stereoscopic 3D film. Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy has attracted the ire of the Telangana lobby in Congress party and other Pro-Telangana votaries today by using sarcastic language.

When CM Kiran entered the Assembly lobby today he was reportedly asked by the media personnel as to whether the T bill had come and will there be any debate regarding it soon. CM Kiran reportedly taunted the media folks and also irritated his fellow Telangana ministers and MLAs with his comment – What bill are you talking about, Current bill or Water Bill, in jest.
Sources say that other T ministers and MLAs who were around him to greet him on the first day of the assembly were upset and walked away in disgust. Meanwhile the first day of Assembly today witnessed all leaders expressing their condolences to Nelson Mandela and the house has been adjourned to meet tomorrow

Whatever may be the reason, without presence of the only starlet of this movie, there is no way ‘Madhumati’ will reach deep into minds of audiences. With just one day for the release, they should do something to bring Udayabhanu before media. Let us see what happens.

The latest buzz doing rounds in tinsel ville is Venkatesh has opted out of Ram Charan’s next film to be directed by Krishna Vamsi. Even before the reasons for Venky’s exit came in, the news is that actor Srikanth is likely to replace Venkatesh.

After supporting actress Hema, it’s the turn of heroine Madhurima Banerjee who is being abused with vulgar SMSes. But unlike Hema’s case, here the culprit is not miscreant but the someone who was close to the actress.

Madhurima shared with media that she has been receiving lewd text messages to her mobile. However, the twist is she knew who was the real culprit behind it. Throwing a warning at him through media she said that she will lodge a complaint to cops if he won’t stop doing so.

Hiding the identity, Madhurima reportedly hinted that the culprit was the actress’ ex-manager whom she fired. Madhurima added that the manager has been spreading lies about her to few directors and producers. A source close to the actress told, “As of now, she is holding her horses. If he repeats it again, she will proceed legally and fight against him tooth and nail.”

Madhurima was recently seen in Venkatesh-Srikanth’s Shadow and Rajasekhar-starrer Mahankali. She hasn’t tasted success in T-town but little busy with Hindi and Tamil films.

Fancy Price @ ‘1’ Audio Rights

Till date it is only known that audio rights of Superstar Mahesh’s upcoming movie ‘1-Nenokkadine’ are sold to Bangalore based music company Lahari. But a dig into the happening found out that our hero has created another record for the movie, with these audio rights.

Already Mahesh ‘1’ created a sensation in tinsel town for being sold out to a hefty price. The whole movie was bought out by EROS Entertainment for around 72 crores. Latest update is that Lahari Music has doled out around 1 Crore to buy music of this upcoming Sankranthi release. Though the buyers are not revealing the actual signed amount, it is heard that they will be giving around 80 lakhs in cash for the producers of ‘1’ and rest amount they will invest on audio launch, music promotions and other audio related stuff. That accounts to a total of 1 crore, and this is a new record for Tollywood.

Earlier we have seen Magadheera and Rachha fetching a price of more than 65 lakhs, and that is a record till date. So now, Mahesh Babu created a new industry record in terms of highest paid audio-rights.
