Teja refused to Direct Rajinikanth

Share

Has anyone would believe that a Telugu director himself has decided not to work with a star like Rajinikanth when the offer fell in his lap? Yes, this has happened in reality! Few years ago, Teja has approached Rajinikanth with a script ‘Rythu’ but the project has never go to the floors. The director now reveals what the reasons for stalling the biggie.

When asked about his film ‘Rythu’ with Rajinikanth, Teja revealed, “We even had story discussions for the movie. Rajini asked me to change the climax and ever since then I stopped meeting him.”

“Story is the most important aspect of a movie, not hero. An actor becomes a star because of the story. A film willn’t be successful just because it features star. For example, ‘Baba’ which stars Rajinikanth. We are aware of how many flops Amitabh Bachchan, Chiranjeevi and Balakrishna have delivered over the years. Story is the real hero of a film and it’s high time everyone realizes it,” he adds.

Teja claims he is the most straight forward person in the Telugu Film Industry as he never hesitates to speak out his heart on any topic or about anybody. The same nature has landed him in troubles in the past but he has no regrets and not even thinking about changing anything in him.

Pawanism – Will It Really Click?

Share

There is nothing like a boundary for ‘Pawanism’ with millions of fans it come becoming disciples for that unique feeling. Of course, all Powerstar fans are Pawanism followers only. But how far cashing on that feeling will click at box office in a commercial way?

A couple of guys are now coming up with a movie titled ‘Pawanism’, where the story of revolves around couple of hardcore fans of Pawan Kalyan. We have seen films like ‘Seenugaadu Chiranjeevi Fan’ and how they have sank without any trace already. So it could be expected what will be the fate of such flicks made on cashing popularity of a hero. Moreover, making a film on Pawanism kind of subjects is a mediocre idea. Though many people connect to Pawanism by heart, they cannot digest someone making it as entertainment. Also we cannot define what Pawanism is exactly is, as neither Pawan nor any hardcore fan issued any guidelines or path for that.

Simply saying, every Indian loves God and prays to him, but that doesn’t mean all films made on God will run for 365 days in all centres. On the other hand, some say that Pawanism is made with a good cause and will be received well. Let us see.

Anna Movie Review – 2.5/5

Share

Anna-1712
Rating : 2.5/5
Movie : Anna
Cast: Vijay, Satyaraj, Amala Paul, Santhanam
Directed by : Vijay
Produced by : G. Kasi Viswanadham
Banner : 3K entertainments
Music : GV Prakash
Release Date : 2013-08-09

Tamil hero Vijay’s latest movie Thalaivaa has been dubbed in to Telugu as Anna. This movie is out in theaters now.

Story :

Viswa (Vijay), who is a dancer as well as a businessman in Australia, is the son of Rammurthy (Satya Raj), well known as Anna in Mumbai. Viswa doesn’t know anything about his father as the latter wanted him to stay away from India. But one fine day Viswa comes to know about his dad because of Meera (Amala Paul). Viswa’s life goes upside down after that and within no time he lands in the shoes of his dad.

Performances :

Vijay is neat as the lead. He gave a controlled performance as Anna. He is flexible as Viswa. This role will be liked by his fans. Amala Paul is fine as the female lead. She got an author backed role and she fits the bill. This is her big ticket film in Tamil and she does justice to it. Santhanam is as hilarious as ever. Satya Raj is confident and Suresh is competent. All others did well.

Technicalities :

Star cast has done well in this movie, but surprisingly technical crew falls short of expectations. There are few big names in the technical team, but Anna is not a product of their standards. Nirav Shah’s cinematography is average. Editing is not up to the mark. Music by GV Prakash is a total let down. His background score is alright though. Direction by Vijay goes haywire after the interval scene. He conceived few good scenes which are impressive. But he failed to execute and establish the plot in a proper manner. Second half drags on and on without no good reason.

Analysis :

Anna has a familiar premise, which can be made into a powerful mass film. However, the director failed to execute it well. First half is completely dedicated to the love track between Vijay and Amala. There are few funny episodes that puts a smile on your face. Sam Anderson’s episode will click well with Tamil audience. Santhanam’s one liners will work with Telugu audience too.

Few scenes are brilliantly done. Bringing Vijay to Satya Raj from airport is a fine example for good direction. Director gives a nice twist during pre interval and it works well. Interval point rises hopes on the film. Second half is a let down due to bad screenplay and pointless scenes. There is not one scene where the hero confronts villain and the much needed hero elevation goes missing.

The film’s length is about three hours. There is so much lag between the scenes (which should have edited out) that would test the patience of audience. This movie should be better with a remote in hand and finger on the Fast Forward button. Vijay’s diehard fans may like it, but for others Anna is a disappointment. The dubbing rights holders may enter safe zone due to low costs and good season without competition from Telugu films.

Verdict : Slow paced and too long!

Mahesh Babu supports Samikyandhra?

Time has come for many star Tollywood heroes to take sides, at least for the sake of their fans’ feelings. Already mega heroes are facing heat and it looks like Nandamuri clan and Superstar Mahesh will be followed. Some hair pullers of egg shells say that Mahesh took Samaikya stand already.

No hero from Tollywood has openly come out till date about the region they support in the case of bifurcation or unification of Andhra Pradesh. But people say Mahesh Babu has indirectly confirmed that he is supporting United AP agitation. The reason behind this is like this. If you take twitter, Mahesh is having six lakh followers, but he follows only ‘one’ person. That guy is none other than his brother in law Jayadev Galla, PCC Secretary and also son of minister Galla Aruna Kumari.

In next election, he may contest as an MLA or a MP but for now he is busy demonstrating in Chittoor district to keep the state united.  Mahesh has many times confirmed that his ‘baava’ is the best in the world and that’s why he follows only him. So should we now take that Mahesh also supports his Bava’s concern, and fight for cause? Critics say that Mahesh will support his Jayadev for sure.

However, it will be an act of controversy if Mahesh is pulled into such discussion. Maybe our hero will be following his Baava’s ideals and character, but not his political aspirations.

Why Only Chiranjeevi Missed Meeting Modi?

Narendra Modi landed in Hyderabad this morning and there has been a heavy mania surrounded his arrival. Though he is just the Chief Minister of a state at present, entire nation has been seeing him bigger than he is at present.

Since he has been successful in pumping confidence among the people of India that he can be the right man to lead India in future, from aam janata to the celebrities have been flocking around him.

The film celebrities met Modi in person as he landed and few among them were Krishnam Raju, VV Vinayak, Ram Gopal Varma, Puri Jagannath, Ali and Kota Sreenivasa Rao.

Later a formal meet and greet program was arranged at Park Hyatt for which many other celebrities have come in big way right from Mohan Babu and family to Balakrishna to various directors and actors. Balakrishna has given wedding card of his second daughter to Modi inviting him warmly for the marriage.

Much to the surprise of all even Allu Aravind met Modi. What is his tryst with Modi when his brother in law Chiranjeevi is a loyal Congressman? Well, people are joking that Chiranjeevi could also have met Modi to give a shock to Sonia. Only Aravind should know what is happening in Chiranjeevi camp with respect to politics. Is Chiranjeevi jumping out from Congress and joining BJP? Only time should tell.

KCR to put check for Seemandhra filmmakers!

After persuading Centre to bifurcate state, TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao is leaving no stone unturned for the new state of Telangana. Now, KCR has apparently proposed for creating T cinema (Telangana Cinema). He has asked director N Shankar (of Jai Bolo Telangana fame) to come up with a vision document in order to look into the woes and plight of Telangana filmmakers.

The latest buzz is that Telangana filmmakers (producers and directors) are on the way to create new T forums such as Telangana Producers’ Council, Telangana Film Directors Guild, Telangana Film Chamber of Commerce. Allani Sridhar, N Shankar, Sanayadi Reddy are likely to take plunge and may play vital role in to be formed action committees. KCR and TRS party are trying to shatter the monopoly and high-handedness of big wig Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema filmmakers in this region. KCR may put check to monopoly of Seemandhra filmmakers.

Director Harish Shankar, Sampath Nandi are new-age popular filmmakers from the region while Dil Raju and others are noted producers in the same region. However, it’s still unclear how it shapes up. Top producers who owns Studios are now in dilemma.

Highlights of Narendra Modi’s speech

Gujarat Chief minister Narendra Modi today wooed south leaders like J Jayalalithaa and N Chandrababu Naidu with praise and the call for a combined effort to make the country ‘Congress-free.’

Addressing a capacity crowd at Hyderabad’s LB Stadium, that holds 50,000 people, Modi ripped into the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre on a host of issues including foreign policy, the economy and Telangana.

Modi, who also spoke a few words in Telugu, accused the Congress of ‘turning brother against brother’ in Andhra Pradesh, referring to the protests that its announcement for a separate Telangana state last week has provoked in the coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions, collectively known as Seemandhra.

He invoked the legacy of former Chief Minister NT Rama Rao, idolised by many in Andhra Pradesh, and said the most fitting tribute to him would be to oust the Congress. ‘Telugu Desam, who has NTR’s legacy, must see that his dream is realized,’ Mr Modi said. Chandrababu Naidu, NTR’s son-in-law, who heads the Telugu Desam Party or TDP, has previously been an ally of the BJP both at the Centre and the state. The TDP is the ruling Congress’ chief rival in Andhra Pradesh.

Praise for Tamil Nadu Chief Minister was also strategically arranged in Modi’s speech. ‘I want to tell Congress leaders in Andhra Pradesh,’ he said, ‘if you hate Gujarat, don’t look at us. Look at neighbouring Tamil Nadu where Jayalalithaa has invested in skill development.’

The BJP has been looking at the AIADMK chief as a potential ally for some time now. Jayalalithaa’s party too participated in the Vajpayee government and she has said she counts Mr Modi as a ‘very good friend’.

‘For us, Telangana is as important as Seemandhra… I appeal to you, no matter what games Congress plays, don’t fight amongst yourselves,’ he said. The crowd chanted ‘Jai Telangana , Jai Seemandhra’; many who could not find place in the stadium watched hi

Only NTR or Mahesh can break Ram Charan’s challenge

Share

Due to the presence of so many star heroes in Tollywood, the competition is always high. Earlier, they used to work at their own pace because of their fan bases but pressure has increased from fans also so the star heroes are working against time and coming up with dual releases per year.

Currently, the discussion is on about a challenge thrown by Ram Charan. This is through his film ‘Yevadu’ which is expected to release in October. Reports say the film’s Hindi dubbing rights have been bought for Rs 3.6 crores and this is a new record in Tollywood history. Many expected Pawan Kalyan to beat it with his ‘Attarintiki Daredi’.
But Hindi market cannot impress that type of film. So, all eyes are now on ‘Ramayya Vastavayya’ starring Junior NTR and ‘1-Nenokkadine’ starring Mahesh Babu to take the challenge by Ram Charan and beat him. This we will know in the coming days but as of now, Charan has taken the number 1 position.

Mahesh Babu fans got disappointed

Share

Prince Mahesh Babu had disappointed fans on his 38th birthday. Fans were waiting for that minute to see second teaser of Mahesh’s ONE film and it got uploaded in YouTube in morning hours around 7.30 am. Teaser went viral within second’s in social networking sites.

But after watching the second teaser most of Mahesh Babu fans were depressed bcoz many felt at least one dialogue will be released in the teaser. Even in the first teaser too has just BGS with Mahesh featuring his new look and nothing thunders or storms were shown in it.

Just pause and go into past for a minute remember trailers of Pokiri & Dookudu which came out with dialogues in them. The kind of sensation those dialogues created is huge and it evoked interest on the film by everyone. But when you compare second teaser on ONE with those, there is a crystal clear difference sensed that disappointed Mahesh fans. Hope a new trailer get released with two oe three Mahesh trade mark punch dialogues in it to satisfy his fans.

Mahesh’s Memory Loss – Is It True?

Share

Superstar Mahesh fans have celebrated his birthday to the core the other day, but by the evening they are taken down by this ‘memory loss’ news. So, what is this memory loss and how did it affected our hero?

There are reports everywhere that Mahesh’s latest movie ‘One-Nenokkadine’ is a rip off Hollywood’s The Bourne series, or much precisely ‘The Bourne Identity’. If this is true, then Mahesh Babu will be seen in a role where he suffers with memory loss. Actually the hero is in search of his true identity and he comes to know that he lost his memory after a bullet fire damages his spine. Few reports in the media indicate that director Sukumar took this flick as a base and added some other romantic angle to it. But all these conclusions might have come out after people watched the latest teaser of ‘One’. Otherwise, there is no confirmation from film’s unit or hero’s associates that Sukumar’s movie is a rip off ‘The Bourne Identity’.

Fans are worried that such experimental may not click with Telugu audiences, but the success of movies like ‘Ghajini’ proved them wrong. Anyway, for now the story of Mahesh’s ‘One Nenokkadine’ is still a mystery.

Undavalli’s bumper offer to Telanganites

Share

‘Want Telangana, then you are most welcomed to take it without Hyderabad’ – This is Congress MP Undavalli Arun Kumar’s offer to the Telanganites.

Stating that people living in all the three regions have equal rights on Hyderabad, Undavalli said Telangana could be created even without the current capital. He explained it was the feeling that Hyd would no more be their capital has resulted in the wide-range protests across Seemandhra region. He stressed the fact that when Tamilnadu was separated from Andhra, Madras was given to Tamilnadu and when Gujarat was separated from Maharashtra, Bombay was given to the Maharashtra state. Likewise, Telanganites should have to leave Hyderabad to Andhra as it was they who are demanding the bifurcation.

Undavalli defended chief minister Kiran Kumar Reddy’s remarks on the division of state and blasted TRS chief KCR for twisting the facts. He asserted KCR’s remarks would develop a hatred feeling between the people of two regions. Referring to the Sri Krishna Committee report which said maoist activities would grow in Telangana if devision happens, the Rajahmundry MP questioned if KCR wants to make the state another Chattisgarh.

‘Bhai’ First Look Fails To Impress

Share

We cannot judge a film by its posters, but they are the ones that attract people to theatres. And for heroes who are losing sheen, these posters should be sky rocketing hype and pumping enthusiasm among fans.

King Nagarjuna is facing tough times these days with no proper hit falling to his credit. His latest venture is ‘Bhai’ under the direction of Veerabhadram, who delivered Poola Rangadu and Aha Na Pellanta. The first look poster of ‘Bhai’ that is released today has hugely disappointed Akkineni fans. The director has actually promised a never before treat for Nag fans, but the poster is making it look like regular pan-masala stuff. Also a couple of working stills of the flick are giving an impression of watching Nagarjuna’s super flop movie ‘Don’. The title design, the age old pose of hero on bike with lady arching in front of him is not giving those required goose bumps.

At a time when stars like Pawan and Mahesh are roaring with the teasers of their upcoming release, senior hero Nagarjuna should be more careful in promoting his flick. Irrespective of movie’s stamina, first look needs to blow out eyes without any fail, to bring massive openings.

Jagan and Vijayamma quit MP and MLA posts

Share

Putting an end to suspense over their continuation of posts on the issue of the bifurcation of state, the YSR Congress President YS Jaganmohan Reddy and party honorary President YS Vijayamma on Saturday quit their MP and MLA posts respectively protesting against the Congress led UPA’s decision to bifurcate the state.

The party’s 16 MLAs and one MP have recently tendered resignations from their posts against Congress party’s endorsement to create telangana which triggered protests in Seemandhra region.

Addressing the press here, party senior leader M Rajamohan Reddy said the resignation letters of Jagan and Vijayamma have been faxed to Lok Sabha Secretariat and state Assembly Speaker N Manohan in speaker’s format and the same will be sent through post. Jagan, who was languishing in chenchalguda jail, sent his letter with the permission of jail authorities.

Congress took the decision to curve out the state ‘unilaterally’ which was against the wishes of people of the state, Reddy said reiterated his party stood by its stand on Telangana taken at its plenary held last year. Whatever decision being taken by the centre should be acceptable by all region people and render justice to all.

KCR Can Start A Tea Shop In Vizag

Share

Congress Minister Kondru Murali breathed fired on KCR that TRS President is losing mind in talking about the state and other happenings in the country. ‘There is no link between Maharashtra and Gujarat separation to AP and Telangana. Gujarati’s speak Gujarathi while Maharashtrians speak Marathi, so their demand is justified’, said Murali. Earlier KCR felt that investors should not demand share in Hyderabad, like the way Gujarati’s are confirmed long back that they will get no share in Mumbai just for investing.

Also Kondru Murali warned KCR that he should not talk whatever he like rather addressing the problems raised by Kiran. ‘Kiran is an honest Congress soldier without crossing the orders of high command at any time. Rather advising Kiran, KCR could also come to Vizag or Vijayawada and start a tea-shop’, he stressed. The other day KCR mentioned that Kiran should not feel alienated in Hyderabad and he could start a curry point or restaurant in capital city without any hurdles.Right now Kiran loyalists are promoting him as a hero for Samaikyandhra protesters, even though indirectly. ‘At a time when every politician in state is expressing his opinion, why Kiran shouldn’t?’ a loyalist asked.

‘Mirchi’ Critics Waiting To Nail Director

Share

It’s been months the super hit ‘Mirchi’ has actually hit theatres and won immediate craze for director Koratala Siva. But why is he running out of time now and falling in the eyes of critics to get nailed?

The success of Prabhas starrer Mirchi has surely placed director Koratala Siva on the table of sought after directors. But the sudden halting of Charan’s project and non-confirmation of Jr NTR’s project has pushed him into troubles now. Koratala Siva has went on saying during Mirchi’s rampage that he was suppressed by many directors as they didn’t gave him true credit for his work. He also challenged that without ‘writer’ any director is nothing. However all that will yield mileage if Siva delivers another hit in a row in a shorter time. With his second project not confirmed yet, critics are now getting ready to nail him, making use of the delay.

Actually Cine Observers say that Siva hasn’t made any master-piece to make such comments. If one challenges about something and gets delayed to reach there, then opponents will not sit idle and count stars. Hope, Siva will start his next at the earliest to silence criticism.

Heroine turns TV newsreader

Share

Charmi turned TV newsreader in her upcoming film Pratighatana directed by Tammareddy Bharadwaja. Clad in a red sari, Charmi looked like quintessential TV newsreader where we come across in all news channels these days.

Will Charmi score brownie points with this film and break her jinx tag at least now? Only time will answer these questions. But one thing is sure, no one can’t question her acting skills and her commitment, passion towards acting.

But Charmi, of late, eyeing only female-centric films after Manthra and glam roles and commercial films have taken a back seat for her. It would be better if she could strike a perfect balance between both these two aspects. Go Charmi go!

Sridevi’s disappointing comments!

Share

Athiloka Sundari Sridevi has finally broken her silence on her career and upcoming films. After making a grand comeback with English Vinglish last year, many filmmakers are running after Sridevi to cast in her in their upcoming films.

Sridevi said, “Mr India is very special to me. The sequel is on cards. I’m lucky as my husband takes care of us and I’m nothing to worry much.”

When asked about donning supporting characters or sidekick roles, Sridevi set the record straight. “I’ve no such plans to play supporting roles. I only take up lead roles as long as I continue my acting. My role and script are top priorities before signing on any film.”

With this, it is cul-de-sac for the dreams of new-age Bollywood and Tollywood filmmakers who are trying to zero in on their films.

Doubts over Zanjeer Release!

Share

Although director Apoorva Lakhia has been constantly reiterating that ‘A movie is not a furniture to move according to lady’s fancy’, and asserting that ‘Zanjeer will come on planned time that is on September 6’, the latest statement issued by production house Reliance Entertainment, Puneet Prakash Mehra, Sumeet Prakash Mehra and Flying Turtle Films have raised fresh doubts over the release of the film.

Considering the ongoing agitations in Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions and anti-T activists in a few regions threatened to stall the release of Ram Charan’s films, has made the host of producers to mull over their decision and to ponder over the postponement of the film.

In the latest press statement, they said that the movie is releasing in September but without mentioning the earlier release date of Sep 6 with sending indications that the makers are keen to defer the release to a later date in the same month. Even the talk is that Zanjeer and Toophan may have different release dates considering the conditions in state. Also, Lakhia told in his earlier interview that it may be difficult to get theatres in Bollywood if they change the release date in last minute. This is definitely tough time for Charan’s fans!
